Default Post replies in English please!!

    Hi all
I find that many members post their replies to various threads using Hindi words ( written in English ofcourse!) I am not anti Hindi or anything . I watch Hindi movies but with English subtitles. It takes me sometime to read the Hindi words written in English and even more time to comprehend. It disturbs me to think I am losing all the fun and humour. I am sure ( as Admin himself has admitted somwhere)that most members are from South India that too from Chennai. Have you ever seen a souh Indian posting a reply in a regional languae? My humble suggestion is that you post replies in English so that all of us can enjoy
I would like to know what other members feel especially those from south

Though I'm from south, i'm too guilty of using Hindi in chit-chats.

I guess in technical topics, everyone sticks to english, but when it comes to chatting it becomes difficult to enforce it. I agree many people will face problems understanding Hindi.

Actually NPU you should be proud that you know Hindi so well...I haven't met many south Indians who know Hindi as well as you.

As far as chit chat goes...Its difficult to do that in English sometimes.

But as far as the general tech sections are concerned its always 100% English.

Those who do not know hindi will surely take it as alien.

Have you ever seen a souh Indian posting a reply in a regional languae?
Now here is a basic difference!! Hindi is more than a regional language!!

Anywayz I agree with the posts above! People tend to use english in tech threads but in chit-chat forums they may use hindi!! I guess people should voluntarily translate their posts if anyone asks for it! I do that on other forums and even translate posts of other also if they are written in Hindi and any1 have asked for translation!

i know many regional languages and some words from kannada(kk bhai told me learn some) but its very tougher for a north Indian to do all that because Dravid languages are very very deep rooted and only very hard molded guys can learn them without proper guidance.. so i use hindi with him...

i think there must be some language for south asia..

Languages other than English is forbidden on Tech/KB Forums. One may use a couple of words to say "Thank you" or like that. But thats it.

On fun threads, one must avoid Hindi/Tamil/Bengali or any other language as far as possible. But once in a while it is OK. But that does not mean that a whole conversation should start in Hindi or any language not understood by all. That can really piss off people who are not conversant.

I use Hindi sometimes but only occassionally and that too mostly well known Hindi film dialogues from popular movies.

I think translation should be made mandatory.

I am playing Ogame( a strategy based game with one million players playing it & my universe have ten thousand players playing it at same time ) & in that it is forbidden to use any language other than official( in my case english). & player get banned for using other language. You have to use English but it can be grammatically wrong also as many player don't have English as first language.

a very valid point to argue on ....but u c ....at times one cannot jus explain some bits in English....

but yes when u say tht south Indian posting in regional language ....here i claim tht HINDI is a National Language and not a regional language. As far as my knwledge is concerned, one has to learn HINDI compulsorily....

in India i dont think regional language should be banned,.. i think if we ask some translation about some language that would be more fun and learning...

in tech related thingies no one uses any language except english, leaving the cases when the spamming starts on after questioner's thank you! and helper's welcome!!!
