Hockey is our national game. We had it as our proud in earlier days when we use to continuously win the gold in Olympics. We had players like Dyanchand who were national heros. Then came cricket. Cricket grew so fast in India that its roots went so deep to the pocket of consumers who will buy anything that cricket stars promote.

Stating it as a national disgrace the managing director of Shree cements said that they are willing to pay the difference between what hockey India offer and players demand. It is nice to see that a business firm using the issue for its popularity. I would like to see that the issue is settled soon as the world cup is happening in India. Hockey India has threated to suspend players who walked out of the meeting stating difference in the offer of hockey India. Hockey India has threatened to sent 2 nd category to team for the world cup if players do not yield.
