Default Mahatma Gandhi: India's Father of Nation

Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi or Mahatma (Great Soul), Gandhi is well known for his philosophy of non-violence. Mahatma Gandhi was very passionate about his ideology. He was a very brave man who never ran away from violence but stood his ground. He had an iron will and decided to fast to death for his country. Anybody who has tried to reduce weight through diet control knows how difficult it is to skip one meal a day, not to mention abstaining from water too for days.

Mahatma Gandhi was a very charismatic leader who had an enormous mass following. The irony is that he was a lawyer, who couldn't talk in court of law during his early career to defend his client, could commune to a nation and make a mass rebellion. It may be said that he was a self-made man who taught himself to stand up for his rights.

Mahatma Gandhi was greatly influenced by his mother and his wife. His mother was a simple and religious woman who would die for something she believed in. She taught him the importance of honesty and will power through example. Kasturba Gandhi, his wife, followed him in everything. She was the silent support that made him who he was.

With a great many number of streets and schools named after him, he is still remembered with same reverence all over India. He must be the most popular face of the country with his toothless grin imprinted on every currency note.
