Default India is No. 2 in Spamming in the World

Wonder where all those annoying spam messages come from? Who sends them? Well, you have got some answers here. Panda Security, a player in antivirus and preventive technologies segment, has stated in its report that India is the world's number two spammer. Surprised?

    Read this one:

Panda Security has released a report stating that Brazil, India, Korea, Vietnam and U.S. head the list of countries from which most spam was sent during the first two months of the year 2010. With respect to the cities from which spam was being sent, Seoul was first in the list, followed by Hanoi, New Delhi, Bogota, Sao Paulo and Mumbai.
The five million emails analyzed by PandaLabs came from a total of almost one million different IP addresses. This shows that the spam is mostly sent from zombie computers belonging to a botnet. This way, the computers of the infected users themselves are those which send the spam. The cybercrooks have thousands of computers at their disposal, which do the dirty work for them.

Spam is nothing but a business and is used primarily either to distribute malware or sell/advertise all type of products. Therefore, as long as there are users, no matter if they are few, who trust these messages, it's enough to continue betting on it.

We are too included in it.

Most spammers outsource the job which is mostly grabbed by countries with good penetration of internet. India is prominent among those.

Brazil is just like India. They have many things common to India. They are fast developing like our country. There is a lot of foreign investment and outsourcing going there.

    Hi,

Am not too sure bout the this survey !!!

Reason ? I was just watching the interview of Indian Mcafee cheif in a news channel and according to him although as others have said, he confirms the outsource of spamming to India but says India is in a distant spot of 7 ( or was it 14 ??) but nowhere in top 5 !!

So I will take Mcafee seriously then Panda, as everyone here knows which is more credibal between both !!

    Regards.

You can never relay on a particular survey conducted by an organization, the results will vary from organization to organization.

Perhaps. But Indians are at the forefront in the spamming department. Not even to broode upon those GANESHA, LORD ______, etc. chain mails, here is the latest:

A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple about 15 days back, and fell sick, from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his Health check done... doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS. His parents couldn't believe it...

Then the entire family under went a Checkup... none of them suffered from Aids. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten out...The boy said "yes". He had
pineapple that evening. Immediately a group from Mallya hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check.

They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while cutting the pineapple , his blood had spread into the fruit. When they had his blood checked...the guy was suffering from AIDS ..... But he himself was NOT aware. Unfortunately the boy is suffering from it now. Please take care while u eat on the road side (particularly tasty
    vada pav & Paani Puri).

and pls fwd this mail to your dear one's.
This mail came to me from a good friend who I know is not usually gullible. But the mass logic is:

Who knows? Let me forward ...

Firstly whenever a spam comes into my inbox i mark it as spam. Secondly google mail sends such spam, into its destined folder.
    secondly different organisations different reports.
    panda is chinese organisation?
time for some allegations. Pakistan does that.

It is not question of whether you marking the mail as spam or your mail engine doing the same. The question here is about how spamming and who spamming.

There have been spammers and there always will be. Responsible people like us should stop the spamming.

@gaggan, Why are you feeling sorry for that boy? That story, as it is, is false.

Absolutely not. The story is completely false. I can assure you that AIDS cannot spread that way.

    Contact with Blood

HIV is one of many diseases that can be transmitted by blood. Be careful if you are helping someone who is bleeding. If your work exposes you to blood, be sure to protect any cuts or open sores on your skin, as well as your eyes and mouth. Your employer should provide gloves, facemasks and other protective equipment, plus training about how to avoid diseases that are spread by blood.

Refer: STOPPING THE SPREAD OF HIV
HIV can be caused only when body fluids, including blood, of an infected person, comes in direct contact with the body fluids of a non-infected person.

In the above case, assuming that infected blood is spilled on a pineapple, the amount will be miniscule (otherwise do you imagine someone eating a fruit covered with blood). HIV dies very quickly in open environment and is unable to reproduce outside its living host.

Blood must come in contact with blood inside the human body. Furthermore, another CDC article discussing false HIV related rumours states that:

HIV is not an airborne or food-borne virus, and it does not live long outside the body. Even if small amounts of HIV-infected blood were consumed, stomach acid would destroy the virus.
    -------
This story is utterly baseless and meant to cause unnecessary panic.

    Further look at this:

A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple about 15 days back, and fell sick, from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his Health check done... doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS.
AIDS is caused by HIV. This happens after years after the HIV affects each and every body immunity systems. Certainly not in 15 days.

    ----

Let us do some real research, guys.

HIV+ and AIDS are two different but related things. Many people think that they are one and the same.

AIDS is a condition caused by HIV when the Human Immuno-difienciency Virus (HIV) attacks and destroys the human immunity system. When that happens, even an ordinary disease or an infection turns deadly and kills the person.

HIV can remain dormant in the system for years. It is quite possible that a person may be HIV+ and yet never develop AIDS, although this is rare.

At this moment, there is no cure or medicine to kill HIV. This means that when the person develops AIDS, s/he will certainly die.

I can understand chances are vary less, but in a situation if he is having a cut in his mouth then that can be possible.

Even Saliva contains chemicals that can help kill HIV in your mouth.

    1. The chance (if at all) is none. First of all, the HIV infected cells will die on the pineapple itself. Because the citric acids in the pineapple will kill the living cells. Once the living cells die, the HIV will also die.

So one may ask how can HIV infect when use of hypodermic needles. Well, this is also possible when the common needle is immediately used. In case of use of hypodermic needles, the blood/body fluid cells are not dead immediately. If the needle is used within 2 minutes, the HIV infected cells are still alive and the injection is directly inside the blood vessel.

Even if there was a cut in the mouth, the infected blood will not enter the blood of the boy. Because the mouth has capillaries. The blood will flow out of capillaries and will prevent infusion. So unless the pineapple is dripping with blood, there is no chance and even then very little (1 in a billion).

HIV cannot spread because of infected blood on food.

    2. And let us say for the sake of argument that this is possible, however remote. But, definitely, the boy, or any person, will not fall sick in 15 days (with AIDS).

But on a side note, I am surprised that you are still supporting the theory.

Well i am not supporting the boy's story, But risk is risk whether it is small or at large. Its true that HIV does not survive well in the environment, making the chance of environmental transmission remote.

If blood splashes into my eye, or I get some in my mouth, can I become infected with HIV?

Research suggests that the risk of HIV infection in this way is extremely small. A very small number of people - usually in a healthcare setting - have become infected with HIV as a result of blood splashes in the eye.

Blood in the mouth carries an even lower risk. The lining of the mouth is very protective, so the only way HIV could enter the bloodstream would be if the person had a cut, open sore or area of inflammation somewhere in their mouth or throat (if the blood was swallowed). Even then, the person would have to get a fairly significant quantity of fresh blood (i.e. an amount that can be clearly seen or tasted) directly into the region of the cut or sore for there to be a risk. HIV is diluted by saliva and easily killed by stomach acid once the blood is swallowed.
