Thread: Google Chrome VS FireFox

This is my Side by side comparison Review of the Google Chrome web Browser and the Firefox..

Looks:

FireFox:
Firefox looks clean and clear, easy to identify the Icon and has an Customizing Option for adding icons on the Toolbar..
It use 5% of the window size for the Toolbar and 2% for the status bar..
The downloading window opens in a separate windows which is a bit odd to close when the download is finished..

Google Chrome:
Chrome looks more clean and it has some Graphical Tabs and status bar and Thumbnail view for easy Navigation through old History..
It has no Toolbar on the top and Status bar hide pop-up automatically when a page is loading and the hides when the Page is loaded fully and an Full Status bar Pops up when there is a download and we have to manually close that status bar when the download get finished..
It shows the Address bar in Yellow in color if the website is Protected..

User Interface:

FireFox:
Its easy to navigate into the setting but its bit hard to understand them and Backup of Old bookmarks is done easily by exporting it as .html file but it we cannot backup our saved password...
To save our password there is Add on for Firefox, which will back our Bookmark and Password together which is bit handy..
But we cannot Sync Firefox with chrome for get the bookmark and Password saved in the Google Chrome browser..
It lags the Thumbnail view for easy navigation through History..

Google Chrome:
The Settings option of Chrome is less and very easy and clean to understand.. It has an great feature that is the Import data option, It import Bookmark saved Password Cookies etc and Arrange the bookmark as same the other browser has set your Bookmarks...
The browser lags the stop button near the Home button, sometimes if we click the Home Button and if we want to stop it suddenly means we have to take the mouse pointer to the other side and click the stop button..
While browsing some un-known language site like Russia etc, chrome automatically Pops up and message showing the language of the page and to translate this page to English or not...

Disk Usage and File Size and Memory Usage:

Firefox:
The Total file size of the Firefox is Just 8mb in total and after installing it takes about 28mb in the drive..
While running 3tabs and running Indianbroadband.net in all the tabs use upto 61mb from the system memory and all the tabs runs as an single Process..

Google Chrome:
The file size is nearly 16.35mb which is higher than the Firefox and after installing it in the drive it takes up 107mb without cache which is a lot higher than the Firefox..
When 3tabs opened with Indianbroadband.net website in all the tabs, it use separate process for each tab, but it uses nearly 10mb of system memory for each tab..

Proof:



Performance:

FireFox:
Browsing is bit fast when cache is enabled and it fails to load when Torrent or any downloads downloading in the maximum speed..
The Browser crashes once in a while and hangs when an 250kb .pdf is clicked to view..

Google Chrome:
Till now there is Beta version only available but i have not got any types of hangs or crash while browsing.. but i found out that browser lags when nearly 8 to 10 tabs are opened... Chrome loads up pages faster firefox even though the Internet is being fully utilizing...

Browsing Difference:

You wonder that there wont be change in browsing difference, like all the page will show up the same in any browser. That is False..
Take a look at the Picture bellow and see the difference in Youtube website..
Same page opened in both the browser...



Conclusion:
Google Chrome perform well even though it uses both system memory and disk space.. It does it job as it have to...

although their are many softwares Bitdefender Anti-Phishing, password managers etc etc which only work's for Firefox, i still prefer Chrome.

I was using Firefox from years, and i downloaded Chrome just a month ago and it appears to me that it is faster than firefox.

Others reason :

Firefox does not pass Acid3 test but Google Chrome pass it.

I am a big Opera fan. The things that make me to love it is it`s speed and loading of pages faster even when I am downloading without decreasing my downloading speed. It mostly use cache and only updates the content of the page untill the design or script of the page remains the same. And after I have found the Ad blocker of Opera, I become it`s big fan. This is not the reason why Google chrome launches quickly when clicked. The truth is Google chrome is always on in windows so when you click it, it instantly launches. And another interesting many might not know is Google chrome actually works as a spy in ur pc. Yes! It actually monitors your internet usage for betterment of google chrome and other stuff, so if you hear from someone that "I don't like Google chrome" This might be one of the reason.

Opera turbo mode is a compression technology or more precisely what it does is reduces the image quality so the images gets downloaded much faster, thus making the whole internet browsing experience much faster. According to me a true compression technology is one which compresses data but at the same time maintains the quality.

And the working of opera mini, its very easy to understand. First the desired web page is loaded on opera mini server then the server compresses the data and sends to phone but unlike the turbo thing here the quality is maintained to some extent, thus making a faster and quality web experience. The same applies for Opera Mobile too. Another thing is there are some custom modded Opera Mini version where ppl have changed servers to increase speed.

Btw, i was about to write a article explaining each and every thing related to the above said para's but i though i write something else..... and now writing.

Thats 100% false.It never runs always in your RAM. But actually it starts faster. This is true for internet Explorer, it starts with windows start.

Opera mini mods are famous in Russia. and they also have download manager in it.. and you can also use your own proxies.. and connect to your ftp account..


but mods are not official versions..

No actually i didn't meant that i meant differentially nvm. Pages in google chrome gets loaded faster due to webkit but due to webkit it doesn't launches quickly.

Google Chrome VS FireFox

I think firefox is better browser. Because chrome is too light. Sometimes page rendering those with java is slow on chrome.

Yeah rajan1311 today contest ending i will try to post some articles, but i am not getting a good topic on which i can write but the only thing on which i can write instantly is windows mobile i was writing last night then i slept around 3 now i will complete.

Go to V8 Benchmark Suite
and try all browsers there and see the performance difference via score.

I agree with mickey chrome doesn't load some java script files faster or it never loads, i think its still in beta (am using dev version) so its not stable at that area. But whatever just lacking at one part doesn't keep chrome far from me. East or West google chrome is the best, it rocks

I like neither firefox nor Google chrome. Only using Opera , currently on Opera 10.54 Beta Built 3390.

I have installed Google chrome, Firefox, Opera and of course IE8 (default) but use only Google Chrome only sometimes switch to another browser. I like Opera too but i don't like the way it loads pages. IE and Google chrome loads in one go or sometimes texts first then image but in Opera first text and that too without maintaining the website layout then downloads the layout and finally we can see images, during the process it looks ugly and ugliest.

google chrome for me! tho stop button would be helpful! has lots of features that firefox lacks, like lang interpretation, firefox crashes, chrome its a rarity,
and some other cool stuff which firefox dont have!

used to use firefix, these days I surf with google chrome, much better!

google chrome for me! and IE for any Financial transactions.
Opera is NO NO for me because of ugly UI and chaos in menu's

I got simpple choice

Chrome : only for gmail & igoogle
IE : for some typical work (like paying BSNL bills & few transcations......some ppl are too dubm to realise the flaws in IE.....they still build their billing systems arnd the IE)
