But i really don't think our political parties are that tech savvy to take advantage of such things. (thank god, they are dumb with technology lol).

Hacking an EVM is a very tough task...

The Congress party and their "Class"mates never will want the evm to run in the elections.. Indira Gandhi also ignored EVMs because with it noone can trick like the one done with the stupid poll papers..This is India and not America or Europe where such corruption will turn into minimized seats in the elections.. In the cited places even a peon can run elections because the environment is very disciplined.
Here we have a whole bunch of officers called Election officers who are directed by the Election commissioner of India, but as we say commonly in India, **** happens..

My Father has been the Polling officer 3 or 4 times. Once i also took him by car to the stadium where these officers were direct about where who will go and things like that, you know all the formalities.. The D.M watches your every move and you get a team with several policemen and also some other people to take note of everything..
He was given the duty for a far-flung area, (as you know hills in Uttarakhand, 11 number bus and all that), these places are known to be the haven for poll players and because there noone can dare to walk..

My father was told that they can meet the village head, but cannot accept the dinner or breakfast for impartiality things.. Its a headache doing this job, but for a democracy its must, you got your life between the election agents, who shout at every suspicious thing, and you can be jailed for a little of irresponsibility, so this is very very secure thing to crack upon...

Regarding the hack thing, i think that the EVMs are devices and the software could be upgraded with the non-hackable.. In Russia the same EVMs are hired, but there no one complaints, than why here???

This is the job of some party boys who have Lanterns and Handpumps as their election signs, these guys want old day paper rolls to roll back again..because this f*&%%ing thing is injuring their liberty and they cannot hack with it..
