    Default University network connections.

    Hi IB.

I am thinking to study at S. V. University in A.P.

Does anyone know what kind of Internet connection they have there?

A more general question, what kinds of Internet connections does universities have? I have been at some colleges, which have 512kbps BSNL connections, not good at all

Also, I am interested to get in contact with ex-students (or, if I am so lucky that any faculty follows here), to hear their experience with SVU

    Cheers,
    Blomma

As per their website ( may not be updated )
    Sri Venkateswara University
No internet facility ( wired or wifi ?) available in campus/hostels.

Besides the regular post office, the campus has a modern telecom center that provides telephone, fax, e-mail and telegraphic services.

Check in web site Hostel Rules!
You cannot use Internet while in classes !,
You may access Internet ( if allowed) , in the Computer lab.
    as part of your studies.
Or surf the Internet in the Telecom Center >

You are not joining College ,to surf the Internet to download/watch Movies !!!
Many Colleges even ban cellphones , in class room.

As a student, you should find out answers from source given..

Wow. Sad answer, but okay. As I told beginning, I have visited colleges offering campus wifi internet connectivity (but, with very low speed).

I am not looking to "surf the internet" and "download/watch movies". I am looking to be able to use the Internet for research purposes.

If someone else has more precise input on the internet facilities at SVU, feel free to write - as I don't have more knowledge by essbebe's answers (no offence essbebe, thanks for taking time to answer)

    Internet for research purposes.
    Exactly.
My "Research" to your query led me to SV web site.
I gave the info available . That was a pointer to you.
    CATEGORY 1 :
One way of Research is to find the answers yourself.
    ( like me )
    Category 2 :
Another method is to ask others to find out the answer.
    ( some others )
Finally I learn more answering questions from the second category !

I started Forum participation for Category 2,
because I too did not like the answers given to my queries,
    regarding Broadband etc.
Threads started for my own needs, barely 20 in three years.,
but posts almost 20,000 ! ( Yahoo Answers not
    included Level 6 )

If Google/Yahoo/ ZING search engines were not available,
I dare not participate in these forum/s !

But by giving all in a silver platter, you kill further initiative/knowledge that can be gained by own studies/effort..

If you are planning to join a College, "researching" Internet
availability,, but not on the basis of other facilities like
good teachers/professors ( not my kind you may say !) lab facilities/ All India ranking etc, I feel sorry for you.

By the way , I rarely participate in this sub forum, as I learn and spend more time in broadband/internet related forums, and try to help/guide many new comers here.

Check my signature link wa3002-g4 quick guide. > 60,000 hits !
Average 100 hits every day, and see the "RESEARCH" done for preparing the post !!!!

    essbebe,

I find your style little aggressive, probably it is not intentional, but just letting you know

You define 2 categories, which unfortunately are not relevant for my question: 1) I am familiar with their website like in my 2nd post where I highlight that they write they have internet facilities; 2) the "kind" of internet (bandwidth available), which I am asking in my 1st post, is not listed on their website; 3) I am not asking others to "find" the answer, I am asking if anyone *knows*, ie. with experience at SVU.

I have good contact with professors at SVU, but, they are "old-school" and don't know/care about internet connectivity. Maybe they can eventually reference me to someone who knows, in the mean-time, I was hoping on the Internet Forum of India, IBB.net

Again, I am happy that you took time to answer, and by your self-references and number of posts, you seem like a nice helpful guy (unless all posts are arguments like this, just kiddin').

    Cheers,
    Blomma
