I am using Vonage VOIP , with U.S number ( which is paid for in U.S about $25/P.M including local calls in U.S ).

Did not have much use for Google service.
Also Skype with video conferencing etc available .
Seems OomaVOIP gives more call minutes from U.S to India.
Another alternative MagicBox , not tried.

Reliance call card was useful during our stay in U.S to call India.
Call minutes availability are announced at commencement of each call
so that too much "Blah Blah" can be avoided !!!)
