Default What Should i Do now :( - Study -

    Hello

I have just completed my Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications and my expected marks will be around 75-80% in final year.

But due to those bad ass study freaks , its impossible me to get admission in B.Tech unless i get around 89% or pay 5+ LAC donation which is both not possible.

Now i have an option of B.Sc (Computer Science).

Total Time that will take me to do B.Tech will be 3 years, and B.Sc + M.Sc will take me 4 years.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what should i do ?

Is M.Sc considered good if you go for jobs?

I will be also be doing certifications like CCNA, CEH, CISE etc etc.

A friend of mine studied B.Sc Computer Science and then got a job. He then did MCA as part time and now is well placed. B.Sc computer science is a good option to secure the job.

well, their is no hope at all, so no chance of loosing it

The problem arised because most of the seats in colleges in B.Tech are reserved to CET students and Diploma students gets only 28 seats in college.

    So we are kinda fecked

& i know i won't get admission in any college despit 80% (last time my friend went to Pune to study, he had got 83%)

As meetdilip suggested, go for B.Sc. (CS) and later on persue an MCA or MBA. While B.Sc. will also get you a decent job, Masters degree is a must if one wants to go ahead in career.

That is, if you do not get into any Engineering college at all.

Result and education is important as it is a treshold to enter a great company. However, the keypoint to retain yourselves in the company is when you are able to mix with the people.

While you are fighting for your result, I'd like to advise you to mix with people and be active to join several activities. All the best to you :-)

have you considered teaching as a career option?
these days, the pay structure of lecturers and professors are really very good.
for that, you need to have a M.Sc. and then qualify the NET.

I would suggest study while you can... there is plenty of time to make money. You will make loads of money in future and will be able to buy things that you can only dream of now but believe me on this one ... Ten-Fifteen years down the line when you look back at your life you would find that the years you spent as a student were the best out of all! So the moral of the story is : Keep studying for as long as you can Get a science degree and MBA... that'll give you a good headstart in the job market.

While that is true, M.Sc. or MS from USA is going to cost you a lot of money as well. Even if you get scholarship, that may only offset some of the tuition fee. There is heavy living cost as well. But I am not sure whether Diploma is acceptable as an undergraduate degree for MS (in US they call "Bachelor" degree as undergraduate).

Same applies to Germany as well.

But if you can afford it, there is nothing like it.

Maharishi University of Management (MUM) near Chicago offers MSc in Computer Science and other courses.

My bro recently enrolled there in the above mentioned course. It costs just Rs. 3 lakhs for the first eight months which includes boarding and lodging. After eight months he can work full time in the US. University will asist in the placement. After finding a job, he can continue to study and appear in the exams online from anywhere in the US. He'll have to pay $1000 every month to the university for the remaining period of course (whole duration is probably 2 years).

If he doesn't find a job after eight months, he has the option to discontinue the course and return India. Only Rs. 3 lakhs is his risk amount which he managed by selling his i10. He has a BTech degree and almost 5 years of work-ex in companies like Accenture and Fidelity investments. Hopefully he'll get a job there.

Yes a degree from a reputed Uni abroad will carry a lot more value as compared to a desi Uni and one major advantage is the exposure you get and the change in mindset that happens to us desis when we go abroad and spend some time there be it studying or working or otherwise.. Out look towards future and life in general will have a sea change in the 3-4 years you spend abroad studying and interacting with students there..

In the end its your call.. But in my experience studying and working dont go together very well.. most students who work and study in Australia for example end up leaving studies in between for one reason or the other... if you just study and know that's what you are going to do untill you achieve so and so goals then it will work out better in my opinion.

$1000 a month as fees after paying his rent, car insurance and health insurance is going to be too much in my opinion to be paying out of a salary. I hope he lands a job that pays enough for all those expenses.

He's hoping that he'll get a job for his wife pretty soon after he lands a job in the US. Shez a B.Tech holder too and has the same work-ex in Accenture and now HCL, Chennai. Right now she pays his pocket money. I guess she encouraged him a lot. You Punjabis are so fond of going abroad. LOL

To be honest I have always always been a back bencher... right at the back and some times my class teacher would forcefully make me sit in the front row..

LOL... that makes two of us... except class 9th and 10th... when I was probably at my best! (in terms of seriousness for academics)
