Oh, very neat. Sadly, doesn't seem to display properly for me.

Apart from nipping out occasionally to look at the real thing (visible, but behind cloud unfortunately) i also watched it's progress on my PC using Stellarium

"Stellarium is planetarium software that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars. It's easy to use, and free."

I won't post the link here, in case of forum difficulty, but Google will take you straight there.

i don't have astronomy as a hobby, but I still find Stellarium both fun and instructive.

After setting up the position of your home, you can go outside, note the brighter objects in the sky, come back in and identify them.

No, it shows only the sky!

Well... it shows the earth too, but if you want to see it looking like the actual view from your house, you would have to take the panoramic photos and stitch them together.

There is a capability in the software to do this. There are also downloadable scenes that you can use. I couldn't find any that looked anything like a scruffy Chennai suburb --- so I use a field and trees!

You can zoom in on other planets too

The whole thing moves in real time. You can change that using the controls, like a media player to speed it up or reverse it. There probably should be a "goto time" option, but I haven't found it.

I'm happy you guys are happy

This is probably one of the most sophisticated free software projects I've ever seen. To me it is a toy and a pass-time, but it can really be a serious tool if astronomy is your thing.

    Enjoy!

Google is very creative and attentive to the current affairs. They will show something different at search engine and we found it outstanding! Google awesome!
