Default Loud speakers in religious places

This is nothing new but if you think about it its a nuisance of highest nature!
My house is equal distance from a gurdwara and a shiv mandir and untill a few months ago they would both have their loud speakers full blast every morning and evening and there is no way you could understand what is being said because the mixture resulted in a sound that could be termed as "noise" and that too a very annoying one. Things have changed now but the problem is not solved yet.. The mandir people have stopped using the loud speakers and its been ages since I heard any thing loud from the mandir but this gurdwara speaker has gained some strength lately and they turn it on at very early in the morning for about 10-15 mins and then some women get together to sing religious kirtan at about 7am and do I hate it? If I had the power I would put all those women behind the bars for life.

In my opinion loud speakers should be banned except for special occasions when they can be kept at an acceptable level so it doesn't sound like an army is marching towards you.

If the local gurdwara doesn't stop using speakers or at least turn the volume down a bit I will have no choice but to get help from the local police station and risk being hated by the sikh families around here for ever and ever

Agree. Especially when kids have exams, or someone is ill and need peace of mind, we understand its importance. I do not object them using it during festivals, but daily ragas and keerthanas may not benefit all. At least not if someone in the vicinity is from a separate religion, which is a common case these days. There may be many definitions of noise, but any sound which occurs out of context is noise.

well i am a religious person..(lol, you have to believe me.. )

but i too believe loud speakers must be practically banned..

@admin, Gurudwaras give low octave voice, and Shiv Mandirs are always like hard rock..

and their kwality of loudspeakers.. that adds to the synthesis.

Sick man is ok.. but didn't you play on the day your boards started??
you know guys, this is the legacy of India, atleast right now. religious tolerance.
people don't really take much. i have seen many places where mix population lives(hindus-muslims you know), there too loud speakers are like chanting all the day round. no problems to anyone..

i think young generation is the one which asks for something.. they should stop listening to western music first.

You should come to our locality and listen to what they are singing right now... I am hating it ever moment and every word kind of penetrates my head like a spear
I belong to a sikh family myself but this early morning kirtan from the worst singer that you can ever find is nothing but noise pollution. I have no one but myself to blame for this recent surge in pollution activity I donated air conditioners to this gurdwara a few months ago and this is the main reason attendance is at all time high even in peak summers Although I dont regret donating aircons but I do recognize the fact that this has added to the problem that was already there but these kirtan sessions have never been this long.. These people probabbly trying to save up on their home electricity bills and just go and sit in the gurdwara
I spoke to some one yesterday who has a say in the matters at the gurdwara and the kind of looks he gave made me feel he wanted to eat me raw and when he was full he would feed the rest of my body to the street dogs I have no idea what to do about this daily nuisance.

There is one voice in particular which hits my head really hard and she likes to sing at the top of her voice but it would be hard for any one to find a worse singer then her... These ladies aren't going to heaven! Yamraj would probably use these ladies in hell to torcher the worst of sinners by making them listen to their kirtan.

that was a nice deed. i think you should take it positively. people are benefitting..

about the Kirtan singer, i cannot comment,... most of them have good heavy voice which is my like... recently i went to my friend in Haldwani(hope you know of this town).. their colony Gurdwara is very small. infact just some hundreds of sqfeet. but they are well equipped. and believe me, a big nursing home goes alongside the Gurudwara on another lane of same compound.

so people have no problems i guess. he says old people are benefitted because thats what they should do and can do in such time of life. they dont have to take a rickshaw or go walk to the central Gurudwara in the city's next end. young peeps are out mostly in business in bazaar and they can access the Central Gurudwara in the evening very easily.

i like the "Sangat" sanskriti of Sikhism. i am proud of such traditions that my country has.. i believe in Guru Gobind Singh personally and his philosophies .. have read a lot about his work for Indian motherland....

    where is my gun...

don't take the offense.. but personally i can understand the difference.. some punjabies do have such accent when singing specially.

its like a clear difference between voices of "Mahendra Kapoor" and 'Mohd. Rafi" at note change... you are laughing i am serious.. i think thats Punjabiat in his voice..
