Default Has anyone built a computer

I was thinking of building my own computer. Has anyone done this before, if yes, should I buy online or offline?

You mean assembling your own computer? Well, there are a lot of computer parts available online and offline, it only depends on your preferences.

Well since the thread has got new life anyway, let me answer this:

Although I have never done a full scale assembly, I have done enough dis-assembly and re-assembly on my home desktop. I am quite confident that I can do it myself. Actually it is not at all difficult.

    1. Instructions are clearly given. You need to follow then to the 'T' (or the 's' from the word 'Instructions'). Instaructions clearly mark what should be done first and what next, etc.
    2. Plugs, connectors, snap-in components fit one way only. There is no way you can make a mistake.
    3. The trickiest part is installing the PCI-E or AGP graphics card as there is a notch that needs to go in carefully into its receptacle.
    4. Never force fit.
    5. And have the right tools, especially the right size Philips (+) screwdrivers.

Yes opening your laptop will void the warranty. Dont just walk into the showroom call them up they might have a local service centre or a tie up with some one near you.

Get it sorted from them as your machine is under warranty. My laptop is from Gandhi era and its mouse thing is still working fine infact everything is working fine.
