Default Cursor always showing some process going on

My cursor seem to always shows the hourglass effect (where the hourglass blinks every now and then without any process) which is meant to show that there is always some process going on behind even if the pc is idle. What could be wrong. Can someone help on what's the issue here.

I checked up the task manager and i did not find anything extra other than the usual processes which is taking up hte process (mostly idle process)! I still get this issue, no idea what's wrong suddenly.

I have win2k sp4, 256 ram, pentium 4, and 512 and 2.93 ghz.

I have had similar problem of sys hanging when using win xp and had to downgrade to win 2k because of less memory.

Run ad-aware and also check for viruses using your anti virus scan and if you dont find anything I suggest you get some more RAM as 256mb ram is just too low.
