Default Top achievement of indian politicians post independence

Apart from opening up the indian economy by Manmohan singh, the next big achievement of indian politicians I would say is the way the pulse polio campaign has been taken up and implemented. I was very surprised and happy to see all the publicities and other things made to make india polio free. I loved the enthusiasm shown by all to eradicate this disease from India. What do you say?

Yes there has been a big effort but if they would have spent this much money on distributing condoms to the masses for free... we would have a less populated and more educated and better India...

I still feel that India needs to concentrate on slowing down the rise in population and that will only come with education and its a catch 22 situation...

You are absolutely right that almost all problems that we see right now could be in someway be due to the over population that we have right now, i feel that it has gone out of proportion. I wonder why there is not much publicity going on like it was in the 90's about family planning, etc. I felt that the indian govt has felt that it has gone out of their hands. They should at least concentrated in the rural area about family planning.
