Thread: Can Wikia do another Google?

I don't think so because Google has already reached a point where no one is there at least near the halfway mark. And wikipedia should stick with their existing encyclopedia. i tried wikia and found it to be very slow in getting the results!

I searched "India" on wikia and found some pages on the top 10 list to be off topic, ex casino software india!!

I don't see anything getting even close to Google in the next five years at least and may be more..
Google has the money and will to stay ahead of the game.. although MSN has made a massive effort by launching Live but they couldn't even come closer in quality to Google search.

Google has become synonym to search.. haven't you heard people saying Google it instead of saying search it? I can see the word Google entering dictionaries in the near future

I guess google has already entered into dictionary as a verb, but Google has objected to it fearing that their brand name will become just like Xerox and Vaseline and Velcro, etc where they have become synonymous of their respective generic name, hence losing their identity.

Though google is master of search engine but it isnt like no one can beat it.I agree they have one of the strongest foothold here which suits customers and is very effective and simple but if anyone else got a better startup with different ideas,they can beat google in 50 years
anyway change is the law of nature.You never no what happens after several years.
