Man i'm totally awestruck by your collection. I am big fan of movies myself but i hardly keep a collection like yours. I only keep the ones that i really love and would wanna watch again sometime. Anywho hats off to you for really following your passion so earnestly.

P.S - I'm actually a hardcore gamer and love collecting games. My dream is to own over 1000 top notch games released ever since games began selling commercially!

Which Laptop/Desktop are you using? Does it have a TV Tuner Card? If yes,

Which Operating System is installed in the Computer?

All taped movies from TV are via the VCR. Today the VCR is nearly extinct.

While it is possible to capture and record the TV signals via TV tuner card, converting it to MPEG2 or DVix is a labourious process and time consuming - not worth the effort.

i have most of the movies you have, plus atleast 500 more. and only 30 to 40 would have been downloaded.
i have been collecting since 1988, vhs tapes and laser discs also.

    but, still, impressive list.

I can develop an application for managing your movie collection, if you like. That would be a challenge for me as well.

    You are most welcome.

The database is not large right now but who knows? The last time I went to UK, I returned with 30-odd DVDs. My each short trip to US (4-6 weeks) adds 8-10 DVDs to my collection. I have not been abroad since Nov,08 and hence the collection is dormant at the moment.

But now I am going to stop DVD collection. BD will be the way forward now.

i would sponsor this effort. i need to catalog my dvd collection.
one feature i would like is tracking when people borrow my dvds.
it happens all the time. i am missing my Pammal K. Sambandham
dvd and i don't know who borrowed it. and i am too polite to ask
    everybody i know.

The average cost per movie is US$ 12. I have been collecting since 1996.

You have to commission someone from this forum to make you a nice and simple database software. It helps to organise.

Nandini did volunteer. But I said that my current collection is quite small and may not need a software to do the job.

sure, please go ahead. what is the effort involved? if it is just a couple
of weekends work I'll send lots of chocolates and take you on a ride in
our family cadillac if you visit our village. If it is more effort then i should
    compensate you somehow.
