Of course. Each and very single of this. Itsmemad has visited my house. He will vouch for me.
I admit I do have some downloaded movies but no more than 15 or 20 (none of those published here; I am ashamed to have done that).
When I have a good HT setup at home with projection and screen, I need the full original clarity and sound to enjoy the stuff.
Here is the latest order (part of it). Order value $317.36:

Come in two weeks. I am doing some furnishing right now - so house is in a mess.
oh yes... I've never seen such a large collection of original movies anywhere else but J4X's home. I know that some of us may boast of thousands of movies. However, I'm sure that it's more kinda addiction to download stuffs and utilize the bandwidth. Aleast it was the case with me not long back.
Real movie buffs are those who are willing to invest to enjoy the experience to the fullest. That I learnt when I saw the whole set-up at J4X's disposal.
thats totally correct statement.. i have a pair of uncles who see movies only in theatres.. they have never seen any movie on tv or cds/dvds... they just will go with someone or alone.. and thats their spirit, thats to see movies in theatres..
such guys are the real lovers of movies.. we should learn about real movie love from them..![]()

One such crazy devoted movie lover is our own Just4kix.
I wish one day I'll have a huge collection of original movies. There is a special enjoyment in watching bought movies plus having a projecter. Wow a real home theatre setup.....
Keep up your collection going Just4kix.![]()
yeah having a projector at home is everyone's dream and its just like making a old dream coming true..
Dreams are possible. I dreamt about the home theater way back in 1994-5 when nobody had heard the concent. A good HT needs money of course, but unless one is very rich, one cannot simply spend a lot of money on a "rather useless" item such as HT. And finally, a lot of study and patience too is required.
And projector is sometimes a silly idea. I will not advice it to everyone. A 40"+ full-HD Plasma (or LCD) is a better option for most.
Of course, the blast that you get from a large screen projection cannot be matched.

I am an anti-piracy guy. But I do not blame people for pirating movies. When I see people in anti-piracy ad's saying that piracy hurts people who work hard to make those films, I take it with a pinch of salt; OK; make it a cup full of salt.
Moser Baer showed the way that movies can be sold cheap also. Till that time, DVDs were sold at ridiculous prices - imagine Rs. 400 for a Hindi movie DVD?
If Moser Baer can do it in India, then Hollywood brass can do it abroad. A typical movie in retail costs $20 (DVD) or $30 (BD). The disc is released after 4 months or so. The movie profit is more or less recovered. So I am sure that halving the cost will not affect the studios anyway.
My reasons of buying original are slightly different. Most people download movies, see it on their laptop/desktop and they are happy. No issues with that. But I see movies on the screen. And I want full clarity and full suuround sound which is missing in the downloads. OK. Full BD rips are available. But I am hardly in a mood to download 40-50 GB.

@just4kix: Wow, that's one hell of a collection. Haven't watched many of 'em, mostly because I'm not interested in those kind of flicks. But as they say, to each, their own.
Even that's not entirely correct; you're confusing the concept of movie buff with something that doesn't exactly have much to do with it. Being a movie buff doesn't always have to do with how much money one spends towards watching movies. You can't always measure how much one's addicted to movies by how they watch it.
Suppose A & B are movie buffs. If their income is the same, then you might use how they watch it for comparison. But if A's income is too high & B's is not good enough, you can't use that as a measure. In this case, A might prefer to watch movies only in cinemas or original DVDs/Blu-Ray discs, but B may go for it by whatever means available to him, yet the best of the options available: be it watching it in cinemas or online or through downloads, etc. Don't forget that before the willing to spend money, you gotta consider whether or not the person has got that money.
BTW, whatever I said has nothing to do with just4kix's being a movie buff. It's too evident that he apparently IS.

Hmm. I am not a movie buff. I am a techie to the core. Film collection started as a hobby and now it has become a feature. I am finding (more and more everytime) that I do not enjoy the public cinema experience. The reasons are many:
- have to book tickets in advance to get good seats
- overpriced tickets, expecially on weekends
- overcharging on parking
- outrageous snacks prices
- mobile phones ringing all over and people insisting on talking
I find that it is worthwhile purchasing/renting movies. So what if I see them 3 to 6 mionths late?
Why I buy original movies is probably already explained in the thread somewhere. It has nothing to do with piracy - I just want the full experiende (the movie experience is 50% video and 50% sound) that one cannot get via pirated DVDs or downloads.
I do have a decent collection but that has been collected over 15 years. Divide 275 by 15 and this comes to less than 20 movies a year. In the last twelve months, I may have seen five to six movies in the cinema hall. The last movie could have been Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time.
While you may not be a hardcore movie buff, I don't think you can deny the fact that movies hold reasonable significance for you. I know a handful of techies (I'm not one), but none of them collect movies to this extent.
And yeah, I too avoid watching movies in cinemas for reason no. 2 & 5 mentioned by you. Last one I watched in cinema was Inception & that too upon owing to my brother's insistence. And it was, as expected, a disastrous experience to an extent.

LOL.
The "movie buff" is that friend of mine that I mentioned. He lives in USA and has a huge collection of downloads ... perhaps over 1000. Name a movie, and he has probably seen it. He is from Mumbai and said that he watched DDLJ everytime he visits Mumbai (at Maratha Mandir).
The way I put it, perhaps it came out that I am refering to myself as a movie buff. In my college days I used to see a lot of movies - one or two movies a week. Didn't have multiplexes then, no cell phones, etc.
Anyway, if I am called a movie buff, I don't mind that.![]()
