Lol.. Who goes to watch movies in the multiplexes? I go to spend time with my loved ones, including my cousins and sister/brother-in-laws. With buzy lifestyle, it's hard to get away from the city with all the battalion.

However, I'm also against the outrageous prices they serve in the multiplexes. My heart bleeds when I see that a soft-drink is priced thrice of its MRP. Still who cares.. At least it's worth the time spent. Plus it saves the time and money on the fuel if you want to get away from the city on a regular basis.

I must admit that I was confused & initially felt a bit that that might be the case. However, after a while, I reached to the conclusion that you must be referring to yourself since that made more sense (taking into consideration the way it was posted).

Ceeties (whistles) exist today also ... maybe a bit subdued, that's all.

Maybe at single screen theaters, but I've yet to hear one at a multiplex.

BTW, do you buy the DVDs/Blu-Ray discs of movies that you've already watched & liked or you watch them for the first time after buying them?

Usually the later (75%), i.e., I buy movies that I have not seen but have been well appreciated across the board.

    Hi,

Am a late joiner to this party !!

I concur with the views posted on multiplexes !! They are looting general public and no wants to do anything which makes my blood boil !!

I for one have always preferred to watch it on my Home Theater !

I used to have more then 1000 DVD's (still do have them but have retired them from active duty) !! With the advent ot Blu-Ray and associated improvements in overall quality made me take this step !

Now I have close 1TB of High Def movies (mostly Hollywood as I rarely watch Others) !!

Being a Hardcore DIY Guy, I've built all speakers myslef and such ! Using a HTPC (QUAD CORE CPU based)as the source to play !!

    Regards.

I disagree that HT cannot give the experience. Agreed that the commercial cinema experience is really great but I can do without:
    • the agonizing wait outside the cinema in a small dingy corridor - of late, I have seen that most multiplex movies start at least 15 mins later than the schedule time
    • the cell phone rings
    • people arriving as late as 15 mins and then trying to cram their way to their seats
    • people getting up and starting to leave early before the show has ended, e.g., there is a very small cameo at the end of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets showing Prof. Gilderoy Lockahrt showing him all confused and potty. It is a very funny scene and I bet that 90% of people may not know that it exists. It appears after all the credits are over.
    • And not to mention all the aggravations mentioned already ...

Even in a half baked HT like what I have at home feels great. My cousin (in USA) has built a full scale HT in the basement - complete with a dedicated screen, luxurious seats, etc. The feeling is awesome and cannot be described. I can only say that you need to feel the HT experience.

If you smoke indoors and piss on the floor of your home, then you will have replicated the theater environment.

My movie collection is bit more bigger. To save hard disk space, it is on cloud, many call it TPB.
