i see mr.just4kix has an assembld one. did u do it or get it done??
I got a basic system assembled from a local vendor. I added other cards myself (graphics, 1394, Linksys, etc.). Assembling is quite easy.
I have just the P4 processor in my computer and plan to upgrade it to the latest processor core 2 duo soon, as i know p4 has become absolute at this moment but still it functions effectively. What about AMD processors is it worth to give it a try, anyone suggest it?
@just4kix
hey, which core 2duo do u have. even i plan to buy a new comp. is it considerably better than the Pentium D
@xwhyz
consider amd only if price is a deciding factor. they're good but just put up which u would like to compare. the initial one's are comparable to intel but the higher ones lose out. just ask some professionals like those over at Tech Support Forum before u go in for anything. amd vs intel varies from processor to processor.
suggestion-only buy a processor suiting your current needs. they sure do get obselete real quick (experience!!). and also wait till the budget comes out. betting that they gonna cut down on excise and such.

You probably paid way more then what a high end system costs now (with an lcd screen)
I remember paying Rs55000 for something similar back in 2000 and if you consider the inflation and rupee appreciation in the previous 8 years.. that 55000 was equvelant to Rs110000 of today..
my gaming rig cost me about 45000 INR(indian rupees ) excluding monitor,steering wheel & game pad ,i know that today this configuration is obsolete,i purchased my pc in october 2007
if you need help in building a gaming rig then just give me a chance of telling what is the best hardware in the market this time!!!
don worry man. any comp u buy will be obselete b4 u say tom, dick & harry.
and ur config's not obselete!! mention something it doesnt run.
I have an Advent T8 which I use every day here at Delhi.. got it from UK for some stupid reason for about Indian Rupees 80000+ (including a 17inch tft screen) about two years ago.
The problem is that it makes too much noise and I called two guys at home to check it out and they say they cant do anything about it.. its a problem with every T8 built by Advent..
Any ideas to reduce the noise ?

@admin
if there is lot of noise coming out of your t8 there are many reasons for that ,i am listing the causes one by one
1.)the CPU heatsink fan must be out of alignment which means it must be touching the surface of the heatsink or equivalent.
2.)your cd/dvd drive must also be the source for generating noise.
3.)your Hard disk can also be the victim of making noise.
i think thats all..
remedies
1.)if you can open the cabinet ,thats very good and then just simply rip every component of your pc apart and again install all the components freshly ,& purely cleaned.
2.)check if your CPU fan is in alignment,and if it is touching something then simply pick up a crow plass and bend the blade of the fan which is out of alignment.... as simple as it sounds like!!!!!
3.)unscrew your hard drive & cd/dvd drive and install them back but before tightening there screws place a rubber washer of suitable size as this drastically reduce the noise of your pc as the rubber washers will work as vibration dampers.
i hope these steps will help you and if you have any, just any problem then please you are always welcome to ask your younger bro!!!!
thanks
AMD is really good with graphics but I've never went wrong with an Intel Pentium Processor...depends on if you want gaming or not.
