Thread: What do you think abt reality shows?

In india the trend has caught up with tv viewers and the reality shows have really become the hit among them. I always felt watching the reality shows as if i am watching a drama in the stage. I am not a big fan of reality shows, especially that involves dance or music, etc. What is your opinion about it?

I will not beat around the bush.

Indian TV (i.e. the software) is a classic case of intellectual bankruptcy. We have soap operas that are nothing but various flavours of saas-bahu sagas; there are those reality shows which are copies of one another; there are 24 hour news channels which show absolutely stupid and sensationalizing news but nothing of national importance and finally there are movie channels - which really do not have to do anything other than selecting movies.

Where are serials such as Buniyaad? Why, even the serial Hum Log, with all its drama and limitations was/is better than today's serials. What about genuine comedy like Yeh Jo Hai Zingai? No, I am not nostalagic. I am genuinely apalled.

Tatally Bakwassss. Trust me, I haven't seen any of the Reality shows or Sans Bahu Soaps till now. not even a single part. Its just wastage of the time. i am quite sure that the indan TV reality shows & soaps causing the Brain Decay.

I too really miss those amazing dramas of yester years which had all the elements in it, like hum log, which is a comedy series with all emotions into. I have not seen such a program ever in indian television even after so many channels have croped up. I still miss those doordarshan days!

The mad rush for TRP Ratings and sponsors are also why Indian TV is on constant decline. In the pre-cable, DD days, DD held the monopoly (which was bad, in different respects); but it controlled the content. So we got good content as well as the bad. But the bad was ... to not put a fine point on it ... just boring - but at least not down right trash.

Now sponsors only want a quick return on investment - so the trash. But then people are watching them and not really complaining, are they? If majority wants this, who are we to object?
