| Platinum Member | I do have very hard views on piracy. I just think that customs duties on personal baggage is too high. I am willing to pay customs duty and I have in the past: - when I imported my Onkyo TXDS-747 5.1 amplifier receiver, I paid Rs. 18,000/- as duty - when I purchased my Pioneer 3-disc DVD player, I paid Rs. 7,000 as duty - my Bose AM10 speakers cost me Rs. 12,000 on duties On all the above, I was allowed Rs. 12,000 as exemption (as it was then). I have receipts for the above, if someone wishes to inspect. My grouse is that I can purchase a laptop abroad and pay no duty but if I am bringing in components, I am asked to pay 40%++ in duties. And these things do not count in my standard exemption. I can understand that if I was going to bring in hundreds of such items. I will pay duty then. I sincerely believe that these are my personal items, not for sale or profit and should be counted in the personal exemption. I am more than willing to pay duty on the differential cost.

Warranty/support is owner's responsibility. Reputed companies like Dell and HP do support international warranties. No idea about Acer. But warranty is for one year only and after that repairs are paid for. Nothing happens to a good/reputed laptop for two/three years anyway. | |

| Platinum Member | dont go for the older FSB i.e. 1066mhz opt for 1333mhz it is a lot faster as i own one of the motherboards supporting 1333mhz FSB and your motherboard is obsolete ask for Asus p5n32e-sli or if you have the dough go and buy EVGA 790i ultra SLI motherboard As its name implies, EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard is based on the latest high-end chipset from nVidia for the Intel platform. What is new on nForce 790i compared to its predecessor, 780i, is the support for DDR3 memories and PCI Express 2.0 support generated by the chipset itself – nForce 780i was in fact an nForce 680i with an additional nForce 200 bridge chip making the conversion between PCI Express 1.0 and PCI Express 2.0. Both chipsets support 3-way SLI mode, which allows three GeForce 8800 GTX's or three GeForce 8800 Ultras to be connected together, and Quad SLI, allowing two GeForce 9800 GX2's to be connected together and enjoining four GPU's, as each GX2 is powered by two GPUs. Two of its three PCI Express x16 slots are PCI Express 2.0 and this motherboard has also two Firewire ports, optical SPDIF output and more. source:hardware secrets Last edited by player; 03-21-08 at 04:30 PM. |
