Thread: WO 18 ONIDA 1.5 ton AC

I bought this Onida 1.5 ton ac model no WO 18 for Rs 14 thousand something last week.

Has any one else got this AC? The sales man told me its got an Hitachi compressor and thats what made me buy this peice of ****.. I was told its got a BTU of 19 thousand + but the specs on the compressor tell a different story..

The compressor inside has got a company name called Highly which has got nothing to do with Hitachi..

I got this crap from a shop in Delhi Cant called Krishan lal and shyam lal who is a CSD authorised dealer.

I am surprised at the lies these people tell to sell to unsuspecting customers.

I havent got it installed yet but once it is installed and if I am not happy with the performance I am going to get my college gang to the shop and do it upside down for cheating me.. Coz the courts just dont work the way one would like them to... and I dont have any proof of that mofo telling me those lies.. So let them get paid back in their own currency

I also got a whirlpool fridge from these guys and it took them 5 days to deliver it to my place.

All in all stay away from this shop is all I can say.

This is a good and unique idea to try it out. As courts in india are similar to non-existent and you will not get justice and even if you get it, it will take ages.


By the way, it is always not suggeste to buy onida products as their products seems to be all crap, even television we brought it and have been giving trouble ever since. You should have tried samsung which is cheaper or hitachi itself which is the best right now in ac's, but a bit costly.

All sorted.. I got my money back and the cartage I paid initially.

Looking to get an o general this time, at least they sell what they advertise.

I have a Hitachi 1.5 ton Window AC (> 5 years old) and Samsung 1 Ton split AC (< 2 mths old). I am satisfied with both.

I have heard that Voltas AC's are also good.

I have a year old Voltas 1.5ton split and everything is just fine but it makes too much noise The compressor is again some chineese company as opposed to the popular belief that they use Kirloskar.. well they dont any more.
I have been using Ogeneral for some time now and I really feel stupid about trying to save some money as Ogeneral is pretty expensive as compared to this Onida **** which I just got rid of. Yes you do pay a lot for an Ogeneral but no other air conditioner comes even close to it.. be it split or window or a cassette.

Dude, whenever you are buying AC check whats the best and not whats the lowest.... CARRIER is the best of the lot in Industry ( 4 E's- energy saving , efficient, economical and excellent service and manufacturing quality )..... I wont recommend Blue-Star or Voltas due to poor service backup..... But you can really count on CARRIER.
Go to any SAMSUNg or LG showroom and see what they are using, 90 &#37; they will be using CARRIER AC's in the showroom.....

Samsung or LG do not own the showrooms - they are leased. The owner will go with whoever gives the best deal.

Yes O General is the best a/c although it is a lot costlier than other a/c's of its size. But if you want to get a good a/c which last long time and has good performance and morever has less electricity consumption, which o general has, you shouldn't mind spending extra, else you might be sending those money saved in other a/c's to service them later.

Ogeneral rocks Go anywhere in the Gulf be it Dubai or Kuwait or Baharain and you will find Ogeneral every where. The stuff they sell here in India is exactly the same as they do in Arab countries and for some reason I feel they even use less electricity as compared to other aircons like voltas and samsung and others.

I can say this for sure that out of all the aircons I have every used Ogeneral makes the least noise be it window or split.

Hi,Just wanted to clarify about the highly compressor. Hitachi sells their compressor under the brand name " Highly" .This is a sub brand of Hitach.The dealer told you the right thing.
