Rep Power: 5 | Hi, I grew up on Indrajal Comics which published comics of Phantom, Mandrake, Flash Gordon, Bahadur, Rip Kirby, Phil Corrigon, etc. Indrajal Comics was a division of Bennett Coleman & Co. (Times of India Group) but have stopped publishing. The 500+ comics that I had were sold off by my Mom one day when there was too much trash. So now I collect scanned copies of these comics published by many fan sites. Anyway, are there any fans in this forum? Or perhaps you have never heard of these characters.

Rep Power: 0 | Hey just4kix!! What a surprise this is! Never thought i'd be reminded of phantom, mandrake et al, in a broadband forum of all places! Surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) my story is very similar to yours, and also features an irate mom (why are moms like this?), and her zeal for cleanliness! and what makes me really mad, is the fact that they were given away to a cousin who didn't even like phantom! Urrghh! I had around 30 bound collections...and many more of phantom...they were re-published by diamond comics in the late 80s and early 90s too. just4kix...where are these scan sites you talk about? anyway, we'll chat some other day...gotta go now... and yeah, the ghost who walks....may he rest in peace! |

Rep Power: 5 | Actually I don't blame my Mom for giving them away - I consented to it not realizing what a blunder I was causing. |

Rep Power: 0 | yeah, as far as moms are concerned, at least for me, it is an ongoing tussle. she still threatens to throw away books and comics i've spent the better part of my life collecting, and i still passionately guard my fortress, like i think every seasoned collector learns to do in time! come to think of it, my phantom collection is maybe the only major loss i've suffered, and it still aches. the amar chitra kathas, the targets (remember that one? i will never forget gardhab das and his antics), the tinkles were all very dispensable, compared to my indrajals. by the way, a trivial question i think you might be able to help me with...i know in all the mandrake comics, he was shown as a magician of indeterminate nationality, but something kept telling me that he was indian. is there any truth to this, or is it just my imagination? |

Rep Power: 5 | Although Mandrake's nationality is not known (he is son of Theron the Grandmaster of College of Magic and Elanora), it is very difficult to justify that he is Indian. |

Rep Power: 5 | Sure. I have downloaded a lot of comics. The total size is nearly 2.5 GB. I can send them by email in batches - or I will burn them on a DVD and send it to you (but not immediately as I am in USA). PM me your email id and home address. p/s. The comic books are in .cbr or .cbz format (supported by WinRAR) and will require the Comic Book Reader - it is a free download and lightweight also. |
