| Platinum Member  |  Can someone explain to me how Rapidshare works Hi people, I have used rapidshare sparingly. The occasions have been when some download link take me to rapidshare site. On this site I see two options - premium and basic. I have understood the following: a) Basic is free and allows only one download at a time and for the next download you have to wait at least 5 minutes after the first is complete. b) With premium, there are no such restrictions. I also read that you cannot do a search for downloads on RS unless the owner publishes the link somewhere. So what are the real benefits? Why should I pay premium price just for hosting my files? Or am I missing something big? Kindly light up the way for me. Thanks.

Rep Power: 5   | @ just4kix Let me tell u in short, RS (RapidShare) is as famous as the google in the searchengines & Microsoft in Operating Systems. First thing, RS is Supersonic. They have many servers worldwide. Quality = RS (In case file hosting) Second, Their security is Extraordinary. Third, the whole Warez world is just growing on RS. Ppl share latest Softwares (pirated  ), Movies (Every Type & Every Language),Games on RS. If i upload XYZ S/W on RS....i am the only one who will have the links for that, unless i Disclose it.now u may ask, y not torrent in place of RS. Answer is simple, SPEED. Torrents are flimsy in speed. Lastly y its so famous. RS ppl were, very first in hosting & they just got Glamous along with their name at present. PS : 1.if u have dynamic IP, then just by rebooting the Modem, u can download as many as possible. No need for premium. |

| Platinum Member | OK. Thanks ranjitraut and logik. I am aware that RS will be way-way (n times) faster than torrent. My main question was how do I search RS? Suppose I wish to download a certain movie, or comic book, etc., unless someone publishes the link how do I know it? |

Rep Power: 2 | its difficult because user who uploads the file posts his links on specific sites.... but try this site katz.cd.... it searches all warez and forums for specific posts.... it maybe RS or file factory or megaupload or something else.... but if u need anything specific, let me know will try provide you RS links... try rapidshared.com or avaxhome.org or epidem.ru..... sometimes links are deleted if the content is not appropriate like pirated software, porn, etc.... |

Rep Power: 2 | Hi just4kix. Rapishare (and the other hosting sites like megaupload, badongo etc.) are indeed a great source for files of all types. The only problem is that if you're downloading a movie, there are usually 7 or 8 or more files. I have heard that downloaders like Flashget can create a queue and download all the files simultaneously, but haven't tried it, so i'm not sure. Obviously, a premium account is preferable if you find lots of what you're looking for on these hosting sites. Otherwise, you will have to reboot the modem for each download, as logik said, or wait. Rapidshare makes you wait for as many minutes as the size of your last download...so if you download a file of 60mb size, you will have to wait for 60 mins before you'll be allowed to download again. Rep Power: 2 | Happy to know it's been useful... If you are looking for old and rare movies, and can't seem to find them anywhere else, searching on these hosting sites will be useful. If what you're searching for is unusually rare or obscure, i recommend emule with all my heart. It's wonderful, and has helped me find some rare gems. good luck! |

Rep Power: 2 | hello just4kix. you said that you were looking for some old movies. meanwhile, i was just going through some other posts here, and i found the post on your movie collection. from what i gather from it, i guess you must be talking about old english films. here are some sites i came across that might interest you: I Love Classic Movies (both english and foreign language classics) Direct Links to Download Foreign Movies (unbelievable collection of foreign films) of course, there are many more, and if you are looking for any movie in particular, it makes things easier. you just have to use some of the search engines i mentioned earlier. good luck! |

Rep Power: 2 |  Yo Hi Ranjitraut, just wondering: how come you are offering someone your RS premium account, even for temporary use? The list you have compiled of RS sites, is pretty good. At present I use forumw.org; the only problem that I have is that I am a normal user, and so many times the connection breaks and then the download is lost; there are times when I have downloaded 99 MB out of 100, and then the connection goes off, and the entire thing is lost. I think only premium users can resume downloads, right? Or is there a crack? Thanks. |

actually was sharing RS account with just4kix in return for something he gave me... you are rite about resuming the downloads.... you will need a premium account fro RS fro resume and use any download manager to download faster.... in free downloads you will have to wait for sometime.... other solution is use different workin proxies.. sometimes we use HideIP or something like that.... but best thing, we friends share an RS premium account between ourselves and share out the money..... 'n' no. of users can share the same premium account and download at the same time..... | |

Rep Power: 2 |  Nice... It's good to hear that you people share an RS account. Here (I live in Gandhinagar), I don't know anyone, and so have to do the entire downloading myself.  I've just started using Internet Download Manager; and for downloading again without waiting for an hour, I just break the connect and reconnect, so I get a new IP. |
