    Default Whirlpool fridge

I bought a whirlpool fridge back in the month of March and ever since its been call after call to whirlpool and all they have given me is lip service.

The fridge I bought was 340litres elite iceberg and they took more then a week to deliver it and that too after god knows how many calls.

Problems dont end just here.. the fridge that was delivered was faulty and those guys who came to deliver it were not ready to take it back saying you need to call whirlpool .. Called whirlpool and it took them more thne 15 days to send an engineer to check it out and as previously told the door just wont shut completely so the whirlpool guy sent a request for replacement which happened about another 20 days later and that too after more then 50 calls from my end.

Guess what... the fridge they send is a different make and its got a number of faults.. as mentioned in the broucher the fans dont shut when the door is opened. the control knob inside the freezer compartment doesnt even work and above all this is not the model I paied for.

Then we started all over again and hundreds of calls and two whirlpool guys visited and said this is a faulty peice and should be replaced... easier said then done.. I have been calling Whirlpool for the last 4 months and this peice of **** is still here which is no good to me.

This moron called Manoj Pawar at whirlpool who doesn't know how to behave to a customer promised me that I will get a refund within 15 days and since then its been more then a month and no sign of a refund.
I called whirlpool again today and spoke to Manoj Pawar who spoke to me as if I am asking for a favour and he goes aise baat karoge to fir mil gaya refund... This followed by a number of insulting comments which I cant even type here.

I hanged up.. I cannot take anymore insult..

I would request all my blogger friends to link to this post and spread the word and hope no one ever buys a whirlpool product.

Whirlpool sucks. and it sucks big time. Their after sales customer support is a joke and the guys employed by them especially this Mr Manoj Pawar of whirlpool thinks he is some kind of a underworld mafia or something..

I am also owner of Whirlpool 340 lt fridge. The fridge worked fine for 2 years and then the PCB developed some fault and fridge used to auto-shutoff intemintently. Since then the PCB was replaced twice (for a payment of course). I went for Whirlpool as it is a respected name abroad but the quality sucks big time.

My previous Voltas (310 lt, non frost-free) worked flawless for 8 years. My in-laws have a Godrej fridge that has been working for 25+ years. I think Godrej fridges are good.

Wow that was a good experience i think you spend more in making calls than the fridge .................first of all take some of your college gang and pay some "respect" to the shop from where you bought the fridge

My personal advice why dont you import a good quality fridge from outside India
they are just flawless and you know it very well what is the difference in terms of quality and performance

That is not a good idea.

    1. Abroad the voltage and frequency is very precise, e.g., 240V/50Hz and it rarely deviates. In India you know the truth and even stabilizers are not good enough.

    2. There is duties and taxes that are payable. The total valuation works like this:
    1. Base Price = Valuation as per customs or original value whichever is higher
    2. Freight Cost = 4% of base price or actual, whichever is higher
    3. Customs duty = (1+2) * 40% (lower if item is brought on TR)
    4. Octroi = as per rates applicable on (1+2+3)

    3. No local warranty support. Spares may not be available or will have to be imported at high cost

The shop where I got it from havent got anything to do with this issue... its between me and whirlpool now as they did what they were supposed to do.

Getting a fridge from abroad isint an optioon as it would cost twice as much and as mentioned by just4kix its just too much hassel and is not worth the effort.

I went to the nearest consumer court at Janak puri and met a guy there who advised me to put a complaint up against whirlpool and demand Rs50000 as compensation for troubling me all this while and ask for the interest for 3 months on the money I paid for the fridge.

I will have to go to Sheikh Sarai consumer court for this on Monday... I am hoping this gets sorted out in two dates... I would love to see whirlpool pay up Rs50000 for all this trouble I have gone through.

    @just4kix & @admin

there is a reason why i mentioned to buy fridge(or any other electrical appliance) from outside India and the reason is........
When my father returned from Libya he bought three (main)things
1.) A deep freezer from National
    2.) A Sony Trinitron 21" CRT TV
    3.) An A.C. from National

These were the things he bought back in 1992!! and uptil now they are working flawlessly so now you can imagine that paying the taxes and all that is worth the performance and reliability there is no need of service.

Take for eg: A.C. the AC's which are coming to India whether they are of Voltas, Videocon, LG, Samsung whatever the manufacturer is they cant run without a stabilizer and they cant even run on a 5KVA generator and the AC we bought from there it works normally without even a stabilizer!!(on direct line with poor voltage i.e. not 220v) and runs normally on a 5KVA generator and there is no effect on the generator as well(due to load) same condition applies to the fridge/deep freezer.............hope now you understand and now i think it is worth the effort!

Yes you are right about 1992 and the reason being these items you have listed used to be very costly in India and no good brands were available so it was a good idea to import when you are moving back to India as that way you dont pay any customs duty either.

Things have changed since the 90's and there are a lot of good brands available in India and the price is comparable to international prices so it doesnt make much sense to import anymore.

You are right about the quality as we in India dont have very strict laws for quality of a product but then you win some you loose some...

We have got an old Voltas fridge at home and it is still working find withint any repairs for more then 20 years now...

I too subscribe to the same theory but not in this case. It is alright for small items such as a laptop, DVD player, a music system, AV Receiver or even speakers. Heavy items such as TV, Washing Machines, Driers, Dish Washers, etc. are not worth the effort and hassles.

The summons have been served to Whirlpool and after that Two guys came from Whirlpool yesterday with a cheque of the full amount and a verbal appology for all the hassel they have given me I refused to take the cheque and didint let them take the fridge away.
I have demanded a compensation of Rs50000 and the interest on the orignal cost of the fridge + legal fees and all other costs involved along with a written appology from whirlpool.

I recieved a call from the same **** faced guy whose name is Manoj Pawar who had a different tone earlier and was behaving as if he is the god almighty... was asking me to forgive him over the phone and he goes sir kyon meri naukri per laat maar rahe ho.

    I am already loving this
