What's the worst? What's the worst that can happen when getting broadband internet? Share your horror ISP stories.
That is very easy. Hyper inflated bills. Mostly occur because people do not understand the usage limit:
a) Usage limit consists of download+upload
b) People think that download only means download of a file - every web page access also means download.
c) Chatting also means download + upload and video chatting is very high download + upload
d) Streaming Video means heavy download
e) Messengers such as YM or GT keep sending data to keep the connection alive and check messages. So even if you are not actually chatting but your messenger is alive, there is bandwidth exchange going on in the background.
f) Many people have Windows/Microsoft and AV Updates automatically running in the backgound. These consume download.
g) People change plans and think that now they have new usage limits not knowing that usage limit is apportioned according to dates
h) And finally, some people do not know how to use the night time free usage.

yes there are lot many differences between dialup and broadband..
1. Dialup is very slow where broadband is very fast
2. Dialup works on analogue signal and broadband works on DSL or ADSL
3. Dialup is far much expensive then broadband
4. Dialup keeps phone line busy during whole online session but in broadband you can use phone and internet both

Listened that the WLL phone enables us to access internet with the speed of 144 kbps.Is it better?
ya 144kbps is good for surfing purpose but its really not good for downloading purpose as it can not give you more than 15-18kbps or transfer rate....
for example
100Mb*1024kbps=102400kbps
102400kbps/15kbps=6826.66 seconds
6826/60=114Minutes
114/60=1.9hrs
so in bottom line it will take about 14 hours to download a movie of 700Mb

I've faced worst... The day I got my bsnl broadband connection... I was admitted to hospital for ankle surgery... I could not even check my mails...... I spent 2 desperate weeks in my hospital room with an Idiot Box(I hate it, but it was better than nothing
).... After my return, I was happily enjoying awesum 2mbps speed for the 1st time in my life... but that happiness was short lived too... 1 week later high voltage bombed my laptop's adapter
... Since it was still in warranty period I didnt go for a new one... Instead I claimed for a replacement from the service center(ofcourse my friend went there, as I was bed-ridden)... Which they obliged but it took another 10 days for the new adapter to reach my home... I used to stare at my modem from my bed(A couple of times I switched it on too just for time-pass...lol)... I don't think anyone can be so unlucky than me with a new broadband connection...
P.S.- Its 41 days since I returned home... I've never switched on my T.V. As I'm finally against all odds enjoying a high speed broadband... God bless BSNL:rockon: for running it smoothly so far...

most horrible story starts up after getting the connection.. before getting there is no connection no problem, but after getting connection.. no connection... :chris:

I had read this horror story in this forum
Having sify connection there was a high voltage in the cable as it came in contact with live wire and toasted the motherboard and the video card and the N/W card. The guy replaced the every thing.
After one month this happened again
Getting the connection set up and then it not working

I once had no free download...i dint really get that. i thought it was the free download at nite types.So i woke up every other night and downloaded stuff and then wen the phone bill came
