    Default Links in Signatures

I have had a lot of requests from our members asking me to change signature permissions as at the moment members were not able to place live links in signatures..

Now I have changed this ( I would have changed it much earlier if I knew how to do it) and you should all be able to display your own links in your signatures.

My only request is > Please keep it nice and sober and dont spam this place.

I would expect a certain amount of decency in your advirtisments. Your linked sites need to be family friendly and no MFA sites or plain affiliate sites.

These terms may e changed in future if this move attracts too much spam.

    For spammers :
1)Your signatures will not show up in those posts where you have less then 35 words

    2) On one page there are 10 posts shown before a page break and on that one page if you have for example 5 posts then your signature will only show up on one of those posts provided that atleast one of them is more then 35 words... so no use posting things like >> Thank you >> very good and so on just to leave your signature link as it wont show up.

    3) Your signatures will not start showing up unless you have 50 posts on this forum.

If any members have more suggestions please feel free to post here and we can all discuss about it.

We need to keep those people at bay who just start posting crap so that their signature links show up under their posts.

    Thanks

If too many senior members object to this move then we can reverse it back to the way it has been before... Waiting for your responses.

I do not object. But I have seen in other some forums people link to animated GIFs and some such stuff that causes too much bandwidth usage.

To keep bandwidth issue in check you will notice that this post I am writing will not show my signature as my signature is already showing up in the first post I made so the same signature will not load twice on any page Another good example would be : sb21pro's signature is not showing up in the above post as his post has less then 35 words.

We can always disable images from links in future if we see an issue at a later stage if this becomes a nuisance.

    25?

Check out this guys posts.. > http://www.indiabroadband.net/search.php?searchid=71381

And this is what he been saying "tnx" for in almost every post he wrote....

All that just to complete his 15 posts and post this : http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...em-driver.html

I have no idea how to prevent this crap from happening again

It would be different if he would put his sites link in his signature and write some sense.

Oh you mean at least 15 posts with a total of minimum 35 words? That is OK. I thought min 35 words in the signature. How silly of me!!

No no its not even 15 words with 35 posts.

Its like for instance if a post has less then 35 words then signature will not show up for that post.

Like on this page you have posted 3 messages but none of hem will show your signature because none of them has got 35 words in them.

If your next post on this page has 35 words or more only then would your signature show up. This will also prevent a persons signature from loading more then once on any given page regardless of the number of posts or number of words in the posts.

    ------

If some one tries to trick the system by quoting someones post in his/her reply even then that posts words will still be counted from what the poster has typed and not add up the text from the quoted portion.

well i think 35 words are too many, c most of the replies are of 2-3 lines only. so most of the tome it would not show at al.

my tip is , u deactivate links in signatures, and also put a two line txt limit.
    how abt that??

ok i take it back 35 word are fine, sorry

admin i think 35 words limit is fine coz we really need not to display signature in each and every post and this can prevent spam...
apart from that spammers will feel like **** to do so much work to put one ad on site...
according to me its fair enough and very smart admin...

I think min of 35 words limit is not good. You should try and scrap it off. They are many general and regular forumers(like me) who just like their sigs to be shown(flaunt it) fully. Check out the foriegn forums and see how thet work out and certainly issues like these.

P.S I hope my sig is shown now(>35 words in this post.)

    Arrow 35 word limit

    Hi,

I think it's a good idea (the 35 word limit). There are some people whose signature area is bigger than their post. For example, there are many posts that mention 'congrates', 'thank you', 'well done', 'keep it up' but their signature turns out to be of 4 lines. It would also increase the readability of the posts.

Hope this would only benefit the members of the forum.

    Kind Regards,
    Pothi Kalimuthu.

    Hi Alexina,

35 word limit has NOT been implemented by Admin.

I'm not sure. He might've implemented and might've taken it back too.

I"m sure the limit is NOT active now.

    Thanks and regards,
    Pothi.
