I have met ranjitraut in person and I talked to smoothvibes when he was in Pune. Unfortunately smoothvibes and I could not meet but we shall definitely meet the next time.

@chinmay, Thank you for the understanding. There is nothing to forgive from your side. All I intended was to make you a good human being. If I have succeeded (as I have), then that is more than satisfying - it will satisfy me more than solving 2000 broadband issues.

@milan, Each member is given a default title as per the number of his/her posts. When someone reaches 800 posts the person gets 'Platinum' status. Beyond that there is no classification. A number of members including me had suggested to Admin that we should allow members to have personalized titles after 1000+ posts - anything they like except 'Administrator' or 'Moderator'. Admin has given this right to whitestar_999, superprash2003 and me. I gave myself the title as 'Guardian Angel' - actually now I think that it is quite pompous on my part.

Other than the above I have no special powers. Probably because I am the highest poster I have developed a special friendship with 'admin' and he will listen more intently. I am very grateful to him.

@smoothvibes, Yes I am generally serious but I can be fun too. Please make it a point to meet me when you come to Pune and we shall have a lot of fun. My sister used to live in Gurgaon two years ago - they have a flat in DLF Ph V. If my bro-in-law takes a job back in Delhi, I may be able to visit Delhi in future and meet you folks.

In a few topics I came too strongly on the subjects of piracy, neo-fascism (this one) and langauage. But the feeling behind each was always coax the other party to improve - the intent was right but the method was probably not. My method started at a high pitch with a lot of self-righteousness and tellling the others that they were bad. No human being likes to be told that he is wrong. It hurts the ego. There are ways to make people see the light but on distant chats and forums it is difficult. Such threads turn quite nasty and hence admins and moderators stop such threads.

Since I am a senior person in my organization mentorship is a part of my job. Guess some of it is rubbing off here. I must bring some moderation in my own posts.

Yeah... but I played it long back and forgot the stages... I think I've played at least another two stages after mall shoot out

No, I am not a moderator or anything. An ordinary member just like you and anyone else (please refer my earlier posts in this thread itself).

Edit: Admin requested me if I wanted to be a moderator. I have graciously accepted.

@manish.. moderator as far as i know.. he checks on all posts and the details.. everythin posted in right place.. under right topics.. all information is correct.. nothing going wrong and all.. he can delete threads if not appropriate... in different forums moderators have different powers... correct me if i m wrong.. anyone..

i also tried uploading my image.. but like 100 *100 pixel is so small.. tht i tried cropping.. stilll my full face is also not coming.. clicking from far also it wont make it nice,,, somethig must be done about it.... also.. when uploading.. a note comes..u can upload either of 100 *100 pixel image or somethin like 64 kb.. whichever is small... my image i made somewhere in 20kb.. still it didnt got uploaded.. said crop it manually in tht size.. 100 by 100 .. guesss soemthin is wrong.,,

I can edit/delete/close any post/thread. I can give negative points. I can ban users (and vice versa) and make forum announcements. I cannot edit user rights, create new sub-forums, or change forum limits, etc. I cannot run scripts on the forum server.

The only moderation that I had to do till now is merge some duplicate threads.

However, we get spammers now and then, less now than earlier, and admin was alone to close/delete such threads. Now I am hoping to help him with that.
