OOPS i am sorry i was talking about an online account for money to buy the softwares and stuff like that,,

www.paypal.com is what I use and Ive been using it since last 7 years now without any trouble.

By using paypal you would never need to provide your credit card details to the seller which reduces the risk of your card being misused.

Paypal is a very reputed company and a lot online trade happens using paypal.

Do we need to have a credit card for these kind of accounts??

If you do not have a credit card there are ways around it as well.

You dont need a credit card just to open a paypal account.. once you set up your account just ask some one who has a credit card to pay you the desired amount and you can pay him/her in cash.

But this way you wont be able to take the money out ... just spend that amount.

Just a word of caution :

Unless you add a credit card to your paypal account it is classified as unverified and some sellers do not sell to unverified paypal account holders.. so it would be good to check that bit firs aswell before asking some one to do a favor with his/her credit card.

I use paypal on a daily basis, both for sending and receiving money, and I have never had any problems thus far. It is a simple tool that is very convenient!

well you can definitely use a paypal acc without adding a credit card, but there are consequences. like 500 $ limit for deposit, how will u deposit money in pp acc??

You get something called VCC [virtual credit card]. You can use that for verifying your account. After it's verified then remove the VCC from your account. Your account still remains verified and you wont have any complications later on

You can get a vcc from any icici bank. Just pay the amount to them before hand and you will have that much limit on the card and it can be used to verify paypal accounts.
