Actually this "Bhehanji" thing is news to me.
I have never seen/heard people calling girls "bhehanji" or any such snide remark simply because they wore salwar-kameez. It all depends upon how one carries oneself.
In Maharashtra, such snide remarks go by the name of 'kaka' (for men) and 'kaku' (for women). But such people get called by those names because the demeanour is like that. I am not justifying anything - just stating how it is.

This is one for me because in my city rarely do i find someone speaking hindi,except the ones who have come from other states.
But i have seen people giving the weirdo looks when someone wears something different from others,in the so called traditional way.
I agree with you guys, but i think it depends alot on where you live and crowd there and what the people are like where you live..........this kind of thing was seen generally for the college students or those in their late 20's or so!
I'm not proving a point, but mentioned something which i have seen!
