    Default Whats this Bhenji thing?

Ive heard a lot of television programs and in reality that if a girl wears salwar kameez shes a bhenji?

What kind of crap is this............i dont see any sense in this, and why exactly people say this and its people from India to say it to people living here.

Wearing Indian clothes doesn't make you a bhenji, its traditional and at times it looks much better than western clothes.

Wonder what those peoples wives or the females them selves will wear on an function then, jeans and a t-shirt!!!!!

    Totally Pathetic!!!!

I do not know what gives you this idea that what you see on TV is a fact of life. I see most females dressed in Salvar/Kameez and no one calls them 'bhenji' - at least not in any derogatory way.

Many guys don't respect traditional Indian dress. Herez a story I would love to share... Once I wore Kurta-Paijama and went to college. Thinking if girls can wear anything in college, guys can wear anything too...

Few of my male friends laughed and taunted for the weird dressing sense.. heck..I didn't need to care bout em... cuz all my female friends really liked it... n complimented me... I was a hit & felt like a star :40: that day...

I think its a misconception among few guys that Indian dresses r not kool... Well, some guys also don't prefer salwar-suites on girls cuz then its less skin show...

its not just the boys who judge but the girls too, the girls who tend to wear western dresses and think that their something special, look down towards those who wear Indian dresses and call them bhenji too.

this thing is really very common in delhi
but there is a differece in this concept of behanji thing. Its not only about indian clothes its about slwaar kameez which gives you a dumb kind of looks. There are lot many girls in my office who always wear salwaar kameez and no one dares to call them behanji at all coz they wear smart suits but on the other hand girls who wear unfit suits with looser kind of face and attitude are known as behanji's
I know a very fat and dark girl at my work place who alway's wear suits only due to her fat body and no one calls her behanji coz she knowz how to carry herself and how to mixup with people around her
so there is a difference know..
(honestly i m not trying to be in favour of this behanji word or something but just trying to put some light on this term)

You can easily judge the mentality of those people who doesn't understand our traditional value and thinks that if they are wearing jeans tshirt, listening to some hardcore english rock bands they are modern

To my personal level, I think girls who wears Salwar Kameej looks prettier when compared to a so called Modern girl and when Once in a blue moon you find that salwar kameej girl wearing Jeans Tshirt then we are left with only one word "PATHAKKKAAAAA"

I also agree that girls actually look prettier in Indian dresses!

Im not against western clothes, as i also wear them, but i think that when girls wear Indian clothes, they look much smarter, as to accessorize they use jewelry and can do make up accordingly to the colour and type of dress, which can only be done to some extent with western dresses.

Its a fact and the main reason is the Guys (may be even Girls to an extent), who are exposed to the developed world / Fashion / glamour in matter of few years or months, accilimate to a newer fantasies.

For an example... school guys who have been around in a vernacular surrounding for years get exposed to more happening glamour as soon as they get into Colleges (spring effect). This changes entire mind frame of these kids and they start beleiving that what they see on TV (Glamour channels) is what the world is all about !! ....On the contrary there are people who have Traditional value attached to them.

This contrast (v may call it ip conflict) and sudden exposure of two different mindsets result in such remarks. ... and mind you its not only remarks but it goes much deeper... Affairs in school... hookah bars.... teen pregnancy etc etc are a result of this !!

There are a couple of Psycho analysis experiments done on this and tendency prevails every where... bhenji in hindi, maniben in gujarati, champa/champu/champak... etc etc...

The only way out is to stick to Tradition.... We call it Sanskaar !!

    My take

Girls who wear only traditional cloths= orthodox

Girls who wear only western cloths = show offs

girls who dont mind wearing both = Smart

Relton there are some people who are deeply affected with what others says, and it really gets to them, some people are strong and don't car about others, but some get affected. And when someone says something about you because of the clothes you wear its bad.

But in the long run its good to not to think what others may say or think!
