No its different.. Rapidshare gives you http downloads and torrents are pc 2 pc.
Try downloading utorrent and give some torrents site a try you will like it. (Utorrent is a torrent client you would need to run torrents on your pc.)
Unlike rapidshare torrents can be resumed at a later time and you can even control the upload and download speeds.
Result: Torrents are better than rapidshare.
Yes indeedI am downloading a 14.5 gb file ... would that be possible with rapidshare? I leave utorrent running through the night and I normally get about 2-2.5 gb through the night on this sify conection...
so can we download latest softwares with serials just as is done with rapidshare,
also what type of files does one have in torrent
can u plz send me a link for downloading the torrent client
@admin.. v can control uploads and downloads....... tell me how?? and will it effect my download if i cancel uploading?? like i am downloading a 700 mb movie... it seems i saw the usage.. my 1300 mb uploded till now.. and tht movie is still not completed downloading.. i will resume it again tonight.. so like is it something like if i educe uploads.. i will fet better speed in downloads?? or anyother benefits??
If you use utorrent then go to preferences and then bandwidth.. you can type in whatever values you want as max and even max number of connections.
I wont advise you to stop uploading .. You can reduce the uploading speed to something more comfortable may be 70% of your uploading speed when idle.
After all torrents are all about sharing and if every one stops uploading where would you download from?
Please keep your warez ideas away from this forum... its your own privat thing you can do whatever you want but please do not discuss it here as this is not the place for that sort of discussions.
Thanks

ok parminder ji.. i understood.. but after all suppose i reduce it around 70 to say even 30 % or wateve.. my question is will it increase my downloading speed??
and i ve eard tht files downloaded form torrents.. are always uploaded whenever at anytime?? is it like tht?? like suppose my download gets finished .. i remove the link from utorrent client.. still it can be uploaded from my pc to others?? i know its silly possibly answeer will be "no" .. but still...........
After you are finished downloading and you remove the torrent file it wont upload after that... even if you stop the torrent from the client and dont delete the torrent it would still not upload.
thanks admin..........still.............................. ..... my question remains...... if i reduce uploading speed.. will it increase my downloading speed????????????:44::44::44::44:
Yes, Decreasing the upload speed will increase download speed. But the new version of utorrent don't support it. Your downloading speed will also decrease for some reason. Don't know why. Its fine with the older version(1.7).
I keep my upload speed at 20kBps.... Earlier I was giving away 50kBps... but i used to face frequent disconnections and avg. download speed... On somebodies suggestion on this forum I decreased it... And my problems were solved... Download certainly increased in my case...
U can try it... See if there is any improvement... else u can always revert back to ur current upload rate...
I use 1.8 only... but decreasin upload speed actually increased my d/l speed...

It depends from ISP to ISP... Connection plan to connection plan... telephone exchange to exchange(in case of bsnl & mtnl)... Many factors affect ur speed...
Only hit and trial method can give u a clear picture bout it...
Its not a beta version is it. I was talking about the latest stable release. My download speed will drop as I decrease my upload speed. So I use halite now.
You can get the older versions of utorrent here. Old Version of uTorrent Download

can i download files from torrent using BSNL gprs on my system
Torrent uses Peer to peer Networking...
The advantage of peer to peer N/W is that the files are always present only in the peer's(seeder's , leecher's) system not in a server....
All files are present as packets...not as one whole file.....
While Normal download managers download these packets sequentially ...Torrent uses a 'rarest first' algorithm to download these packets....And to keep track of these packets it assigns sequence no to each packet so that when downloaded ,these packets are assembled together like a jigsaw puzzle...This also helps torrents efficiently resume interrupted download
Advantages
->No need of server hardware
->Multiple copies of the same file present(seeder's comp)
->Torrent creators win copyright cases by claiming that the Pirated files reside in User's system(Seeders) and as they are not hosting these files in servers they are not responsible for the circulation of these files
Wicked
You need atleast a dialup speed connection
min would be around 3kbps
I have experimented with slow connections ...i had no problem downloading files...ofcourse it would take a long time...
And No ,you can also find >20mb files(ppt, videos, free music,Firefox, mobile softwares) if you r not obsessed with pirated software....
There is no recommended speed...Only the 'time taken for download' will be effected by your speed
