    Wink Smoking Ban October 2nd

Hello everyone! I've been a little off posting and creating threads and such. I still have to check the Associated Content too, because they never sent me anything. My head wants to explode! Well, other than that... I was wondering how people are feeling about the smoking ban? I just reads through this, and linked it here as well. http://http://www.dnaindia.com/slide...194368&sldid=1

    Do you know

there is a clause in this law which permits organisations to make a seprate smoking section inside work premisis

According to new law You can not smoke at home if there is any infant and govt bodies can put fine on you if any one complains against you that there is a infant at home and you smoke there

    Infant Inside
    Smoker Outside

Question Looks like no one really believes this much!

I've read all of these comments, on websites of news & everything... and it seems like no one is really too worried. Some people are all in favor, saying it's good because it's bad for your health, etc. but at the same time they think it's going to be taken seriously for a month or so, and then everything will go back to normal, like Vibes mentioned. I've been in cities where smoking has been banned, & for example you can only smoke 15 feet away from the entrance to a pub or disco. I don't know the opinions, overall, but when it comes down to it, sometimes it makes things more of a hassle. People don't like having to go outside, walk 15 ft. to smoke, whenh they could be enjoying a beer and having a square all at once.

One of the serious acceptance of this rule is done by Railways...
As far as Gujarat / Ahmedabad i can say is today's newspaper carried news that the local NGO's will be made responsible for rule to be implemented... One more way to earn money for cops apart from liquor..

Im so happy about this ban, otherwise wherever you go you see smokers and you end up inhaling their smoke which causes everyone else around them harm as well.

    Default Its d-day!

Lol... yes the day has finally arrived... Being a heavy-smoker myself for 8 yrs... I know its doomsday for all the smokers... if its applied as seriously as in Indian railways...

This Ramadoss (Union Health Minister of India) knows how to be in the news... 1st he was involved in politics with one AIIMS director... And after he tasted defeat there... He started his campaign against smoking when he personally targeted few filmstars and proposed for ban on flashing cigarettes in movies & TV programmes.. And this has put India as a role model for tobacco control at global level...

Thank God! I left smoking few months back... else I would have been paying fines everywhr like in railways...

Depends upon the cops operating in your city... Like in Patna they charge u for driving without helmets but don't fine when u break a signal... But in Pune the situation is exactly opposite...

They can't... Government will loose the huge revenues they get from tobacco companies... All over the world its same... By getting more acts like this, the government is ensuring that they generate more revenues in fines... Its a win-win situation... They r getting applauds from non-smokers and health activists for showing so much concern... At the same time they will mint more money...

Smoking is a thing which man-kind has been doing since it invented fire... And it can never be stopped...

    Smile Any reactions?

Hi! Any reactions seen as far as this ban is concerned? I'm thinking it will begin being more obvious when you go to a pub or disco, and someone wants to light a smoke, and can't.

It was late Mahatma Gandhi's (father of nation) b'day on 2nd october... So it was a dry day all over India... No liquor sells newhere... not even in pubs & discos... Most of them were closed too... I guess we'll be getting reactions from tomorrow... Its a long weekend here...

Not sure how the employees in BPO's and MNC's will survive and cope up with this as they have to work odd hours and long hours of work.
