Hi,
I am new to chennai.. and I am interested in getting a broadband connection for my laptop...
I was told Hathway is a good option
I want to go for 256 kbps unlimited connection... Rs 1750 for 3 months.
Is this a good option????
Another question How the connection get setup...
1 LAN wire..
2 ADSL Router
3 or something else

BSNL is much better.

I agree with just4kix, BSNL and Airtel are better options. Hathway can give you a number of problems and trust me its not a stable ISP. We have many threads in fourm which suggest that people face numeber of disconnection problems and slowness issues with hathway connection.

ya it will better if u go with bsnl or airtel. hathway uses cable modem at ur premisis n its not a direct service from hathway in between ur local cable operator will be there n thses local cable walas really sucks.

I havent heard many good things about hathway either.. go with Bsnl as Just4kix and Smoothvibes said and you would be serving the country as well by doing so as its a state owned company If not go for Airtel.

256kbps gives 26-27 kBps in torrent

but i have heard it is not that good.

why don't you contact them personally at their office and ask for the plans?

i know abt the plans.my friends say it is not good.

i wouldn't go for cable isp's at all, unless they give out stupendous offers!

ignore them.hathway gives good speed.dnld speeds are good.especially in trrents

1750 for 3 months seems pretty cheap?? is it without tax?

the plan only says that it is 1750.actually its a monthly plan.

so how much is the monthly rent?

it is monthly 730 (including taxes).however you have to pay the money in advance every month.
