Default Cant View some Sites

I have a problem, I can't visit some sites. I tried from internet explorer and Firefox, but I can't view them. I also tried on another computer which is connected to the same internet, but I still cant view them. Another thing is, that I can view the sites if I use a proxy. Also, I was able to view these sites, then the hosting went down for about 10 minutes or so ( I know this because I checked the site downforeveryone.com and it said that the site was currently down for everyone) but then 15 minutes later, when i checked downforeveryone.com, the site was back up, but when I try to visit it now, I get a network timeout error. But I can visit through proxy. The site is forums.digitalpoint.com . A weird thing is that I can visit digitalpoint.com , but not forums.digitalpoint.com . Some other sites that I cant visit without a proxy, are seohu.com , dessertsrecipes.net. Btw, I have the hathway freeway plan. Do any of you'll know what the problem is. I'm guessing its something to do with cache, so I flushed my dns and used contol f5 but that didn't work. It doesnt even work on my other computer. Also, could some of you'll on hatway just check that you can visit these sites, so I know that hathway havent blocked them .

Could be a DNS issue. Try Open DNS

did you use open dns settings??

pls do also see if you have two networks showing for one network in the network centre...

that happnes sometimes and thats because of two reasons

1st wrong specification of dns servers and wrong specification of ips..

if you use the auto ip settings you wont get the problem..

you can also go into diagnose click it and reset the modem

try tweaking your "largest MTU" setting. Test using "TCP Optimizer" software and then make changes according to recommendation from the s/w.

I get the ip automatically. Yes I tried open dns, I still cant view the sites. I can still veiw them through proxy, so I was thinking its some kind of ip address thing. I dont thing its got anything to do with browser settings because I tired on 2 different computers with 5 different browsers. Also, as I said in the first post above, I can view digitalpoint.com but cant view forums.digitalpoint.com -- How can this be? I was thinking maybe some kind of cache of isp ( I tried Cntrl f5 ) . Could someone on hathway try visiting seohu.com to confirm that the site isn't blocked by hathway?

Just type indiabroadbandd.net in your browser if it is redirected to guide.opendns.com/?url=indiabroadbandd.net then your Open DNS is working....
otherwise configure it in your router (like me).

download and run "TCP Optimizer" software. under 300K.
select "largest mtu" and then start
it will run some tests and give appropriate value .
thwn u will have to change it in ur router (for PPPoE mode) or in windows dial-up/network interface (for Bridge mode)

I'm a hathway user too and those sites load just fine on my browser. I believe it's probably an issue with software hooks (eg. antivirus/firewall) on your system. If you have an XP system try disabling any antivirus/firewall and boot into Safe Mode With Networking and see if you're able to browse. Also check your network properties and see if there's any virtual hooks attached to the NIC - uncheck everything except Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and reboot your pc and try again. Good luck

OK Guys -- there is no Fun in banging your head and looking for solutions here and there and checking ur PC or Laptop settings. i have done all i can do , contacted all concerned and eventually writing this after going through in depth .

The problem started on staurday 30th may after dp went missing for few minutes .
after that networks of Bsnl/ Sify / tata didnt worked on forums.digitalpoint.com .
for 2 days we didnt looked to it as a serious matter -- but on monday when some of my friends pointed that they can access it --- and icant -- i statred inqiring and came to find that these 3 networks cant access it . by wednesday bsnl is back on track and people can log in . sify i dont have any idea ; tata is still jammed.

Abt the tata i have lodged complaint on monday night --- tuesday evening i had a call from their technical department --and they wanted me to do certain steps (posted above in the thread by f22). as ther propblem didnt solved after 30 min --the call gets Dc and no one responds. icall the customer support again at night and they said that ur prbloem is resolved as someone has talked to me. (yes they did talked but did not solved) . so i opened another complaint and they assigned me a new compaint number .

wednesday noon at 12: a call from tata main technical hyderabad comes to me -- they again asked me to do same steps for 40 min and then when no solution comes-- the call is dc (I TRIED MY LEVEL BEST TO EXPLAIN THEM THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A MACHINE RELATED BUT IP RELATED AND LINKED TO TATA ALL OVER INDIA -- BUT DAMN THOSE GUYS CANT BELIEVE ME --AS ITS A BIG CLAIM-- ALL OVER INDIA )

anywasy i called back at wednesday night to find that my complaint is closed /resolved as they said (when nothing has been done).

FRUSTRADED i had a long dicusion and they issue m another compalin number/ also i got mails from there department that they will work .

thursday afternoon-- some tata guys from local office come up to look into matter-- and then only i explained them the problem --that they realised and communicated to their technical that the problem is not at local end but at server ends. they have kept me on hold and looking into matter .

the thing is its very dificult to explain to these guys and inspite of all this they are clueless. i got my bsnl connection back running and i am back on dp with effect from today but tata is still not showing the dp page .

so the best solution for this is --that all of u who are havingthis problem --raise a compaint to tata on daily basis and specifically state the forums url that this is not working . --- else u will be waisting ur time in apprehension that the technical are looking (whikle they will be trying to solve problem at ur local end.) so until and unles there is a mass complaint --- nithing can be done --- as till this moment -- the tata guys are clueless of what has happened

so dont waiste ur time-- register a specifc complaint nd hopefully it shld be back soon
