Guess what?? Its nice to shut to shut up when you do not know stuff and instead listen to someone else who knows. I'm no networking Guru, theres stuff i know which I was only telling you. Your connection speeds do not depend on the protocol you use (HTTP, FTP, P2P, etc, etc.). If you get good download speeds on HTTP, beyond that I as an ISP would not bother. It may be the software you are using or whatever, that would not be my problem if you complain, that you are not getting good speed on particular protocol. Then test your connection speeds when they give you the connection.

By the way i was talking about reality. You never go thru and fine print and then you complain. No ISPs gaurantee you any service levels. Even the consumer forum wont help unless its a case where your money is stuck with no connection. Its wise to switch your ISP, if there is any other ISP which offers better services.

When i asked you to verify if you get good speeds on multiple downloads, this was the purpose. Unfortunately, you think I am considering you an absolute newbie asking you to do that. But the reality came out there, you are getting good "Connection speeds" which is what an ISP provides.. your ISP was never providing you that download.

By the way i was talking about reality. You never go thru the fine print and then you complain. No ISPs gaurantee you any service levels (on usual broadband lines). Even the consumer forum wont help unless its a case where your money is stuck with no connection. And this is what is the real world. Its wise to switch your ISP, if there is any other ISP which offers better services. Not a single ISP is good everywhere.

P.S.: Again, if you believe i was kidding, I pity you, I was talking about reality. Please research a bit before you talk.. I am getting my moneys worth, using 256k for a 30Gb download a month at 999.

dude...of course ur speeds matter on which protocol u use....since every protocol has a different port...it is very easy for an ISP to throttle ur speeds for certain protocols by simply blocking the ports they use....picture this...wot if ur ISP just blocks all incoming ports except the one required for browsing (port 80 if I am nt wrong)??? in dat case do u think u'll still get good p2p speeds??? Of course not...cuz there wnt b any listening port available...

In any case...as of now, i am havin no probs...i did wot i had to do, i had my prob resolved...as for u..since u know so much already...i really dnt c wot u r doin on this forum?? I dnt c how u can possibly hv a prob wid ur speeds??

I am jus posting my experience cuz it worked for me...i am nt challenging ur knowledge (altho i am pretty sure its wrong) since i am probably nt up to date wid my concepts...however...in case sum day u face a prob similar to mine...feel free to refer to this thread and try my advise..at least its worked for me!!! Go Figure!

    Default hi

    hi tejas....
i'm also one victim fr 'hath'way....ofcourse my speed was 64kbps...but i get only 5-8kbps...if whenever i wanna download a 2mb file it takes 1-2hrs time to finsh....i calling them frm past 4weeks till now they didn't respond to me...so i thought tht, i need to disconnect the services from hathway...fr this also they dint cme ..i made complaint last week....so my sincere advice is better u go fr another service provider....we can save our time....instead of hathway...
    cheers

I did scream at the manager again...and i DID threaten him abt 'legal action' dat i was plannin...guess wot?? he promised to 'check at his end' and sent an engineer at my place and bingo..yesterday nite i was gettin speeds in excess of 43 kBps..so dude..i guess u shud think abt doin sumthin more than jus sending URL's and laughin at ppl!!
By the by...u think i dnt know that u need good sources for a healthy p2p speed??? how abt this?? 17 seeds, 30 leechers?? that healthy for u??? same torrent gives a cool 29 kBps on a BSNL 256 line!!! and i get a measly 4 kBps...even on multiple dnlds, i get nothin more than 20 kBps usually!!!

Secondly...my neighbor who has jus got a BSNL conn (and hasnt uploaded much btw)..wid a 256 kbps line mind you...gets a healthy speed of 29-32 kBps all the time..so i guess u need to get ur basics rt abt nt gettin proper speeds... i do know dat how much u seed n upload does affect ur dnld speeds bigtime...but my only prob is..if other ISPs can deliver sumthin which is at least reasonably close to wot they promise..then hathway guys hv no excuse..

Moreover...u just lost the plot when u asked me to check how much my networks transfers when i dnld from multiple sources on HTTP....I NEVER COMPLAINED ABT MY HTTP SPEEDS...for a networking superhero..not so much with the reading haan??

and lastly ...it is because of ppl like u who accept wotever rubbish these guys offer dat these ppl are so arrogant...u are kiddin urself whn u talk abt livin in the 'real world'...jus go thr and get ur moneys worth!!! Thats the real world...

PS: Not trying to get back at u or nethin like dat..u cud very well b a networkin guru...jus laying down my case...
well dude when ppl have 256 kbps BB connection that means their browsing speed will be at 256 kbps and their download/upload speed= 256/8=32kbps so dl/ul speed does not exceed from 28kbps generally and if u are getting 42kbps then its ur luck he got scared and has increased ur browsing speed i am using MTNLs 749 NU and when i download torrents, some of them gives speed of 2-8 kbps and some gives the speed of 215 kbps, so u are not sure which torrent uploader is giving max speed to upload his file so that ppl like u and me can have max speed. :P

and when i directly download files from rapidshare or from some direct download sites my DL speed is always near 190 or above this.

Hatway ppl are noob u should go for airtel or bsnl w/e suits u

Hathway reeks of cheapness .Thats it. They dont deserve to supply their broadband wannabe (dialup) sort of connection.A complete failure in every aspect .
