Thread: negear router with hathway

guys, kindly help me....this is simple but getting tedious...

i bought a net gear wgr614 router connection so my sis can use her laptop to access the net as the computer is in my room...

the technician came to configure the router but was unsuccessful...the router on auto wizard mode said it detected static ip and i know hathway uses static ip so we manually put in ip and subnet mask but we didnt have DNS names...so we called hathway and they said they dont use static ip and told me to put router on DHCP i.e get ip automatically...we did this still no connection...

the technician went away helpless...we cldnt do anything

if anyone has a solution wld appreciate it...

I had the same issue with hathway when they told me to change it to DHCP. Since it didn't work I changed it back to static. Try connecting just one PC straight to the cable modem and do an ipconfig at the command prompt and paste me the results - I might be able to help.

By the way the DNS settings for Hathway are:

DNS1 - 202.88.149.25
DNS2 - 202.88.149.6

for routers mac add should be registered as binding
if u connect pc ur mac is binded for 48 hrs after which it is released so router's mac is not binded
reset ur router to factory settings
i hope laptop uses vista
run router setup disc follow steps until it shows tht pc & lap are connected to router use ping command to verify it(ping gateway ip on pc & lap)
u can call cc give them ur router mac for binding
then u can use ur router
well as for static ip keep tcp/ip settings on automatic
or else it wont work
