I am an unfortunate customer of Hathway in Chennai, recently took 512 Blast quarterly (1500 - 3 months - 3GB)with 11pm-9am unlimited. But during the unlimited times, they reduce the speed to around 60kbps(deliberately i guess), where as at day time (from just after 9 am) I get around 375kbps. I am using visualware MySpeed PC for speed tests.
I called customer care. Since this is prepaid, and I have already paid the money, they don't seem to care at all.
Am I the only one facing such problem? What can i do about it? Any suggestions?

After many calls and three days after logging complaint, Hathway technical person called and gave a new DNS address which he claimed will make it faster. but still no change. Waiting for next call.

Is your browsing slow aswell? slow as in does it take a lot of time for pages to load?

Its now more than one week after logging my complaint. Nobody from hathway has visited to check the problem. whenever i call, they have some excuse. interface problem, cable problem etc etc..... 'every time they say it will be corrected TOMORROW". i dont know when their tomorrow is. yesterday i shouted at them, then for some time they seemed to respond well, and again promised taht it will be corrected today. but till now no change. I think more than my broadband bill, my phone bill will come. calling them...

during day times i am getting upto 240kbps....... but during night after 9pm, its horrible.... like 80kbps. with DAP. and my plan is night unlimited..... any similar experience?

Only two things come to my mind.. One that they throttle speeds when you have unlimited access and the other thing might be that they dont have enough bandwidth to cater to the amount of people who use thier connections in your area (contention ration is probbably far too high as compared to what it should be) and in both the cases it would be classed as defeciency in service by the consumer forum and you might be eligble for a compensation if you approach them.

hi admin,
one cust care executive claimed it is due to excess traffic due to this new 512 blast scheme, all r trying to access at same time. but i dont believe. i think they have some kind of control, coz again at around 4 am speed suddenly increases to 350kbps. i doubt some scheduled throttling.
i am also seriously thinking about a formal complaint. i dont have much idea of how to go about this consumer forum. whom to approach, the procedure etc.... if you could explain lil detail i think it will be helpful to many ppl like me....

after a lot of shouting and threatening, someone from hathway came to check the problem on Friday eve. He took my modem for checking and gave a standby modem. With this modem also there are frequent disconnections and sometimes i am not able to connect for a long period of time. The bandwidth is not limited in this modem as it is their ip. So problem seems to be overloading in my area. But when i am able to connect, sometimes i am getting scorching speeds. As high as 800kbps
I hope they reduce the loading in my area soon, and take this modem away very slowly

The plan is Rs.1650 for 4GB and not 3Gb and validity is 3 months>if you are fed up with hathway,try another ISp and tell what its like.The hathway plans are surely very good but u need a way out.

I just visited their site and for the above plan it says the price is 1500 (4gb for 3mths) but they haven't mentioned anything about night unlimited .Are u sure that they allow unlimited downloading between 11pm-9am?

I am Using the Plan 512kbps BLAST XTRA 6 ie; 6 Months. I am getting arnd 45kbps of Transfer Rate on an average in the unlimited hours. Morning hours I usually dont Download.

i must agree with you hathway sucks! Im frm Mumbai & der cust since the last 4 yrs!im on der liteway plan with 256 kbps @500/month with 100 rs extra as miodem rent, most of the times my net gets disconnected and gets connceted after some time so i really cant kep on downloading anything from sites like rapidshare or p2p sites as links kep on geting disrupted! also if my connnction does go down for long periods i have stopped calling tehri CC as they are of no help and just ar not redy to escalate to their Supervisors claiming no one is der! so when i am without service for more than 2 days i myself adjust the bill bu deducting hte LR for those many days! teh problem im stuck with This shitty ISP is that MTNL also had probs givin me service as exchange is too far from my place , im just waiting for Relaince or Airtel to come in my area or beter still WiMAX. But one thing is cetain Hathway sucks and wouldn advice any1 to take any higher hathway plan!

I am SAD user of hathway i took the same blast plan 512k 3Gb 3 month and night 11pm to 9am free. wether its day or night i hardly get speed.i took connection mainly for access my office,but pathtic than dial-up. frequent disconnection is also there, i hate calling there cc no use. dont want to waste my enegry for it...

i am getting download speed upto 60 kbps in night 12-9(free hours) using download managers,but the problem with hathway is i think they are blocking some ports when i am downloading from rapidshare or megaupload download speed is 10-20 kbps all the time.

Even i get around 45-60kbps and when signing the Hathway form I was told that I will get a minimum of 35 and I agreed and now I am happy.........Its even under my budget

paid Rs.3300 for 6 monthS for the Hathway 512Blast. This deal is 7Gb for 6 months and its unlimited between 11.00pm - 9.00am.

However they suddenly said at the end of one month that i have finished my allowance.

They actually tampered my usage.

I have been using hathway for over 3 years. First plan i had was 64Kbps unlimited, then the 256Kbps unlimited.

Just last month i changed to the 512Kbps night unlimited. When i checked on the 24/10/07 my usage was 924Mb.

Today its shows as 18Gb as of 1/11/07.
I still have 5 months remaining and they have shut the internet saying that my usage in the night is too high!!

Its supposed to be nigth unlimited and it does not even work in the night now!

I am going to file a case in the consumer court and also a cheating case against them. When i told them this they said please go ahead do what you like.

If anyone goes for Hathway, please take care and take regular screenshots of your usage.

You need to go to Hathway and enter your own user name and password and then you can check your usage.

Hatway says that after 7gb is crossed which is what you get for 6 months they will shut the service even in the night. So it isnt night unlimited.

The current update is that they have given me a new IP and said that they will review the account after my dad spoke to a top boss in their company.

What is there to review i dont download anythiing in the day and only use it in the night still they SCAM.

Just came to know the fine print with this is that after 7GB they disable your connection night and day even if you have paid for 6 months.
