Thread: 1Mbps at 799 !!! There's more to it so please Read !!

Guys does anyone from Bangalore heard or is using Hathway BB ??

I had called their CC and they gave different plans amongst them theses got me curious !

1)399 : 256 UL
2)499 : 512 UL
3) 1100/799 : 1Mbps UL

All above they say comes with no FUP or any such crap !

So I naturally applied for 1Mbps since it was very good and asked the guy to come take a look at my place tell me the feasibility of their service !

He came and confirmed that he can give and wanted to me to sign then and there,I refused telling him I want to know more details like contention ratio,throughput,type of connection (LAN OR Via Modem),the modem type etc...

He called me the next day telling me that they'll give a Scientific Atlanta Modem and no other details ! Anyways I was not impressed so delayed, the next day he calls me several times pestering to me take the con as they had a One Day offer of Rs.250 for Installation (usually its 550) and for 1Mbps its Rs799.

I wanted to wait and then take call as I smelt something fishy ! Didn't bother to take his call all day ! When I called the next day he said the 250 Installation plan is out and so is the 799 !

I mean how can they have a one day plan ?? anyways I said try and book it in yesterdays date to which he said plan he can but not installation charges !

The best part is he calls me later in the day and says he cannot give the connection at all,I was WTF.... yesterday he was after my life for the connection and now he says not possible !

So I think he has on purpose gave the wrong information regards to plan rate and such to lure me into taking it ! later when I showed some restraint and try dig deeper he know his stories won't work and instead of telling the truth he just escaped saying cannot give the connection at all !

So guys from Bangalore please can any one confirm the above plans ?? if there is indeed such plans then I might perhaps look into the matter and see why he refused !!

Hathway is not a very common ISP with the members here. So probably there was lack of response.

The way I understand this is that the salesperson is probably a franchisee. He wanted to get some advance from you to book your order. He would have come back later and told the same statements later, i.e., connection is not feasible, etc.

My advice to everybody has always been the same - pay on delivery.
