I have this Hathway Silver home night bird scheme for the last few months where you pay Rs.500 (+40 as tax) for 500 MB dowload with modem costs 2999 and installation charge as Rs. 1000 at the promised speedof 64kbps. The speed is maximum around 48 kbps and never I could get 64 kpbs. The problem is their calculation of download statistics. Even though they promise that only download is counted and not upload, the usage statistics speak otherwise.

I also monitor my download using some utitilies like bandwidth meter (www.wizard-soft.com) or DUmeter www.dumeter.com). The difference is as much as40 to 50% always more in the case of Hathway statistics. So is it ethical on their part to do this? Repeated queries to Hathway have evoked no response. So when I have downloaded only around 410 mb, Hathway usage statistics say it is 505 MB. So I had to shellout extra money (Rs.2 per MB). Moreover they update the details only after 2 days.

So We always end up paying more or else use less than allotted to each user. Does’nt this amout to cheating on the trust of the users? SO USERS BEWARE OF THIS TRICK. DON’T END UP PAYING MORE. MONITOR your download using the utilities I mentioned and see for yourself.
