I have had Hathway for about 8 months now, and have had continuous problems with them.

Their speed is nowhere near what they claim, they have chronic undercapacity in my area (perhaps in all of Mumbai) but still keep adding more subscribers. Their sales team and workmen admit that there is a significant bandwidth problem, but their support desk will always try to blame my PCs, or say that the speed I am getting is just fine ’’from their end’’. Their service cuts regularly (literally every friday afternoon, as well as at random during the rest of the week).

They promise certain speeds, but if you test it (get download.com’s speed tester, or download something and check speed) you will find that they are far below the speed that you are paying for.

I am a heavy net user, and their pricing and download restrictions are ridiculously out of touch with the real world. It does not seem that they know the first thing about the net.

Good luck keeping your OS and antivirus up to date without breaking their low limits...

Long story short, I am disgusted by their low quality, and have lodged at least 50 complaints with them. I am staying with them only because there seems to be no better alternative at the moment.

Sify has similar limits, plus they have not responded to repeated requests for installation over 8 months. Are they in business to make money?

Tata Indicom has even worse prices. 33 megs of downloads for 1000 Rs? Are they insane?

Do any of these providers realise that the standard in the rest of the world is unlimted downloads for about Rs 1000 / month? at speeds way better than what they are offering?

Reliance is promising a broadband service which will offer that, and even have it on their website... but their sales team is not returning calls either...

Anyway, if you need a good connection, at least in Mumbai, be prepared to be taken advantage of, be taken for granted, and to pay for it...
