Guys,

You wont know the beauty and responsiveness of hathway till you have some issue. or may be you guys are not in Chennai....

I will have a live proof of how many times I called them when I get my detailed mobile bill, probably I would show you that...

And, how many hours/money I lost without connectivity...

I would have agreed if it was some complex issue for resolution, I have no connectivity for past 24 days just because, their RENEWAL APPLICATION is undergoing some upgradation(thats what they say)....I am a software engineer and also a CCNA(not a big qualification though) - and right now I am serving for a world leader of networking devices, I have never heard any software application having a upgradation time as 24 days(or more) nor any network having a down time of 24 days(or more).

Yes, true I cannot compare my single PC connected to internet with production networks...But still, I have my own level of importance and dependency on my internet connection.

Atleast, I have heard/been in scenarios where ISPs provided me with some alternative solution or alternative stand by(temporary) ID to connect to internet till these kind of issues were resolved. But, hathway does not even do that

If they don't have any technical feasibility to do it then their systems should be maintained such a way that it should have minimal down time...

Let me compare this with BSNL Broadband UL900 plan as this plan is the closest match.

I am sorry - I am missing something here. How is this any better than BSNL plan. Check this out:

Security Deposit: Rs. 500

Other benefits: Rs. 180/- on fixed line telelphone rental waived off

BSNL's shortcoming is its "always busy" customer support line. However, I have established a good relationship with the Chief Engineer and I do get a good response upon a personal visit. Connection was once down for 3 days.

Guys....pls switch to something else... I agree with waht the guy says and only diff is that i am in Mumbai..... Cust Service rate : 0, quick response rate : 0, person visiting ur place knowledge rate: 1, resolving issue rate : 0, If no connectivity : one common answer by supp tech on phone (for nearly months of common issue followup : " Sir, we are upgrading our systems and it will be resolved soon" no SLA or time frame specified. Nights unlimited package (unlimited between 11 pm to 9 am)....d/l speed of max 20 Kbps for 512 kbps and after 9 am goes upto 30 kbps (utter crap). For past 2 1/2 months I am not able to check my usage as it says "invalid credentials...pls login again"... I have spoke to 33 diff people at cc and have sent immense emails for which i never got a single call or reply and when I call thats the same reply " Sir, we are upgrading our systems and it will be resolved soon" no SLA or time frame specified. I spoke to one agent who promised me... if the usage goes over ur allocated quota it will be reversed. Instead my connection was barred and I had to renew... for which I was then told by renewals that this all will be adjusted later (which I do not think is going to materialise anyways.....I am looking for a better option.... just waiting for the right deal.....

TAKE MY WORD...DO NOT TAKE HATHWAY.....ITS CHEAP AND IT STANDS TO ITS CHEAPNESS...IF NOTHING ELSE WORKS

--- I think you are one of the lucky ones. There are one in a hundered. As hathway has a small customer base. I am using Hathway for the past 2 and a Half years, they seem to be the most expensive of them all and theis customer service is far below par. pls - read my post reply to ace_ventura.

I am switching to Airtel now.

hey you should be an Hathway employee.. I bet.. they even ask for 100 rupees for collecting my payment man.. can you belive this? and not just that.. their speed is bad.. I moved to airtel in a couple of months..

Earlier I was using Reliance broadband, and mine experience with this was very bad. I then close the connection, but after nobody came to cut the wire, I then cut all their cables. Then I switched to Hathway, their speed and service is wonderful. I have 512 kbps connection and i get this much downloading speed. I have only problem with them is, surfing speed and uploading speed is quite slow.

My experience with Hathway internet is very very bad. Actually there are not many words to express. Everyday at least 4-5 hours are wasted. Their call centre people just do not know any thing. They have this stock answer "it will be set right in 2 hours sir!". Two Hours! My god! this is one bunch who do not know the value of time at all!!!!!. Response to any issue is an indifferent answer. I curse myself for subscribing to this service provider.

Man.. I had hathway in the beginning....and I was quite used to their frequent disconnection (abt 4-5 hours wasted in a day as rightly pointed by Digger) and slow speeds. U dunno... U are about to download or are in a process of downloading and all of a sudden... "Page not found" and the cust care guys.. they laugh at U behind the call... as if anticipating that its true that again its a frequent disconnection call....Their engineer comes to ur house... the first thing he will try and observe is ... if there is any latest movie DVD or CD at ur place.... rather than checking the line.. Most of them do not even know how to configure UR modem... and have to use your own phone line to first call their friends and girlfriends and inform them abt their schedules for that day... and then when asked for, they call their engineers who help them and then srew up the whole situation and then tell U that they will come back tomorrow...for which U just need to make another call to their (ugghhhhhh...) callcentre and take an appointment...and the again persue them for next 1 wekk or so before they can come back and then ask U if the problem has been solved, or No ?

Isn't hat brilliant ? I now have Airtel and I feel I am in a paradise.....so if someone wants to get the whole (Oops...I mean Hole) out of nothing then go for Hathway and if U intend to get everything out of nothing... go for Airtel or any other bband but Hathway else even U will end up in a hole which smells awful. And this is genuine report...I am not influenced by any other service provider, nor forced nor drunk

Well I would like to add to what harishkk says
Rs. 100 does not matter much for me as my internet connection is more important to me than losin Rs.100 but I thought I would just give it a try....and try and negotiate....For which first I offered him a glass of cold water and then a cup of tea (very readily he agreed without wasting an instance) then he was willing a negotiation and I managed to come upto Rs. 50 max provided I do not inform their supervisor as the person told me... {"Bhaisaheb, kum se kum apne cigarrette ka kharcha to nikal jayegaa (U do not get an legitimate receipt for the same nor any), lekin mere boss ko pata nahi chalna chahiye nahi to agli time pura paisa dena padegaa" !!!}
Translation in English : "Brother, with Rs. 50 at least I will be able to take care of my cigarette expenses but person I report to should not else next time it will be full charges for U" !!!

my experience was quite good with hathway

. i got my connection with in 1 day,and i did not pay any rent for modem like 1500/- . i just payed 475/-RS for that 128kbps plan and connection was very quickly activated here in Hyderabad

But now my expectation for speed has increase too much and can't wait to get a faster broadband !

I am now switching to TATA Photon !

its alright for me i hv been on 256k ultd. for 2yrs.789rs(inclusive of tax).i get a peak speed of 26KBps and an average of 22 in torrents.im planning to switch.

for starting few months i was happy with hathway but now they are back to their business 4-5 Hrs a day are wasted n it take a long time for them to get the fault n rectified. now hope one month it will work trouble free n next month again it will give trouble.....

i am just in a process of phasing out hathway

I agree. I have seen similar issues facing my mother-in-law, a Hathway customer. I also agree about the broadband situation in India, specifically Mumbai. I am personally trying to do something about this with my own ISP - we plan to blow Hathway, Reliance, Tata, Airtel and MTNL out of the water with our speeds and data allowances.

Beware the usage limits of Photon+ : "Unlimited" doesn't mean unlimited. Ensure you read the fine-print.
