Default Hathway is better

I am using Hathway for few years. In between I had some problem with billing, that forced me to look for other ISPs in the market. I found that Hathway speed is not bad when compared with others and also the service is good. I have recommended Hathway to few of my friends. They are happy with the Hathway speed and service. Taking my experience and the experience of my friends, I find that Hathway is comparable to any other ISP in the market today. I would like to continue using Hathway. One think I would like Hathway to look up on is making the schemes more flexible. Like any other private ISP, they are facing tough competition from big players like Dataone who offer 400MB at Rs250/-. But as we have been using Hathway for few years, we are comfortable with Hathway. It is not that easy to go to another ISP. We hope that Hathway does some innovation in schemes to stay ahead in the market. (When it comes to Dataone, we get really get the doubt whether they are reducing the prices to see that other players go out of the market. In any case it is the customer who gets benefitted.)

Hi!!

Great....atleast you feel that Hathway is better. Have you ever tried to download any Torrent files?
I have a 256kbps connection and I get a pretty good download speed. But when I try to download any torrent files my download speed is mere 2-3kB/s and upload speed is 0kB/s. I have written 4-5 mails to helpdesk (hathway), but I am yet to get any response from them. when I call there technical call center I was surprised that they don't know what torrent files are and also what P2P connection is all about.
Can you suggest any solution to get this issue resolved.

Thanx in advance,
ashnet

Hi Ashnet,

Torrents download speeds depend on a lo of factors so before we come to the conclusion that its your isp who is the cause of slow speeds that you are getting wont be fair. I have never used hathway myself so wont really go into all that.

I normally get 700-800 kB/sec download speeds on a 18 mbps connection which is not even half the total capacity but thats all i can get as it all depends on how many people are actually seeding it and how many peers are there and what thier upload speeds are.
There are a number of different things you can do to increase the download speeds but need to know which client are you using
I use abc and its been working very well other then the fact that it behaves a bit funny when you shut it down but every thing else is just fine.

yeah.....some of the ISP's in india cap the torrent download speeds....
u might be a victim of that.....

they do this by blocking the default listening ports which a P2P client uses.....they do this **** at thier server end...

i would recommend u change the default ports to some other ports

hope it might help
