Lightbulb Spending Too much Time Before The Computer ?

If you have answered yes to the question and clicked on this Thread , Then your Health might be at Risk . People Who spend Too much Time before the computer are prone to many problems

Workers/casual users who spend long periods in front of a computer terminal typing at a keyboard are susceptible to eyestrain, back discomfort, and hand and wrist problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
-Courtesy American Bureau of Labor Statistics
In order to avoid these problems [ and prevent your neck ache and Back ache from becoming chronic ] like mine did , make sure you take precautionary measures ! .

You must take frequent breaks in between your work schedules and the time spent before the monitor .

For this you can use Some softwares to remind you to take a break by displaying pop up windows or in some extreme cases locking your keyboard or a bot showing you the middle finger []

I mean some hardcore Workaholics really need to be told to F off for their own health's sake  .Its A sad world we live in

These settings are of course controlled by you ! You set the timing of interval and the mode of alerting you .

    WorkRave

    This is one such Software
You have a Linux Verion for Both KDE and Gnome Interface as well as For Windows XP

    Here is a Ubuntu Screenshot

It ll alert you periodically and also Miss Rave will guide you thru some basic stretching exercises !

    Ok .....

    For good health :54:

    Lets give it a shot

Am afraid as you have mentioned here I am surely vulnerable to the problems. There are days when I need to sit in front of the computer for more than 10 hours and in most occasions the sessions are at a stretch. Maybe am lucky these health problems have not affected me till now but am very much prone to it as it seems. BTW, am not addicted to internet its just my regular work that makes me sit so long. Need to incorporate some of these ideas to ensure good health prevailing.

Excellent post, you have my repo !

I was wondering how come nobody has posted on this important issue. Even after all these years many if not most people are not aware of these issues.

However it would be nice to introduce the concept of ergonomics as well in this article.

A colleague has one at the office. Believe me the back rest is not required at all. And it is one of the most relaxing chairs.

When you kneel down, your back is absolutely straight and requires no support. This is the same principle.

They are yet to be manufactured/imported by any regular brand companies. In Pune, a guy makes them for you. Check such furniture wallas.
