    Default Stroke..

    STROKE

    Remember the 1st Three Letters.....S.T.R.

    STROKE IDENTIFICATION

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

    RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

    S
    Ask the individual to SMILE.

    T
Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)

    R
Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call an emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

What the info is given here is absolutely correct.

If you ever come across anybody who is about to get it. then please dont ask to stick his tongue out, ask the other three tests S,T,R
and as said if he fails then call the ambulance and stick something hard (ex spoon, metal pen, NEVER YOUR HAND ) in his mouth.

What ever you do, his tongue should be inside only, when the stroke is about to come most of the people loose their tongue by their own biting. In stroke circumstances when they bite their own tongue it get completely cut and the piece will fall out. so try to avoid that.

KK, I have an unrelated question triggered by your mentioning of putting
a metal in the persons mouth.

In India when someone has 'fits' in a public place someone places
keys in that persons hands, Why do they do that and is there any
    medical effect in doing so.

First here i said metal piece because metals are hard thats all nothing else you can place a wooden stick also no problem. I want a hard piece there because it will stop both the jaws from biting the tongue thats all nothing else.

    Now your question.

It was believed that when a person gets stroke there will be excess amount of electricity in his body, you can find the similarities when a person is struck with an electric shock and the person having stroke both will be trembling in unconsciousness. So people thought that its due to electricity in his body and the used to give metal objects in his hand to absorb that and make him normal.

As I have studies and known, there is no significant effect of that.

I don't know. But older people say giving metal object works. Just wanted to know that it is a superstition or not.
