    SEVEN DONT'S AFTER A MEAL

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. It will surely help you to have a healthy life. Try it out!
    • Do not smoke after a meal! Experiments from experts prove that smoking a cigarette after a meal is comparable to smoking TEN cigarettes (Chances of Cancer are higher).

    • Do not eat fruits immediately after meals. It will bloat your stomach. Therefore have your fruits one or two hours before or after your meal.

    • Do not drink tea after a meal as tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the protein content in the food we consume to be hardened; making it difficult to digest.

    • Do not loosen your belt after eating. Loosening the belt after a meal can cause intestinal problems.

    • Do not bathe after eating. Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body thereby causing the amount of blood around the stomach to decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

    • Do not walk after a meal even though you have heard people say that after a meal, walking a hundred steps will make you live till 99. Walking immediately after a meal will make it difficult for the digestive system to absorb the nutrition from the food we eat. Wait at least an hour after your meal and then walk if you want to.

    • Do not sleep immediately. The intake of food will not be able to digest properly thereby leading to gastro-intestinal problems.
    Have a healthy Life !

Walking after a meal is recommended.

But you need to do it the right way. Walk immediately after eating is wrong. Because the digestive system need more blood to help digest the food you ate. If you walk instantly, the blood will goes to other organs, this is not good for digestion and absorption, and some people may feel like vomiting & dizzy.

Now you may ask when is the right time to go for a walk?

Before walking, you have to give about thirty minute to an hour (or even more time, it depends on the person and what you have eaten) to let the digestive system digest the food and absorb the nutrition you intake. After this short rest, you can go for a thirty minute light walking. This is the healthy way to walk after eating.

To sum up, walking after a meal is recommended, but you should do it right. After eating, you had better take a short rest to get the food digested, then go for a leisurely stroll, this is not only good for your health but also can help you keep in sharp.

Its not advised to have water while having food or even after having food because if you drink water then it will dilute the acid present in the stomach & as a result the digestion won't happen properly.

What about Chhaas or Butter milk...I have seen it most people while having a big lunch easily gulp down a big glass or two of Chhas. Does that help in digestion?

The digestive system itself contains acids that actually so the digestion.

Drinking tea as such is not harmful, but the combination of tea, milk and sugar interferes with the digestion. So if you want to have tea, leave milk and sugar out of it.
And the tea should be brewed not boiled.

Simply Simplicity: 8 Don'ts after a meal - Truth or Myth?

1."Don't smoke after a meal because the bad effect (emphysema, cancer, etc.) of smoking a cigarette becomes ten times worse."

This is true in the sense that the natural bodily absorption rate following a meal is heightened, magnifying the ill-effects of tobacco (nicotine) on our system.(* added emphasis ). One stick of cigarette, like one drop of any poison, is one too many.

What's the reason ? It will not bloat your stomach. Another hoax.

I agree to all other points.

Now this is really something. But what about if the liquid we intake isn't water? Say like softdrinks for example? Will that still dilute the acid in out stomach?
