Default A journey to a lighter me

Ive created threads before but they were not for me, this time this thread is for me. Im aiming to lose some weight, well not some but a lot of weight which I have put on the past couples of months.
Im going to be doing my one hour of cardio and try for one hour of walking as well, be eating healthy which means no junk food at all. Im aiming for a target of 2 months to lose as much as I can.

Any one care to join me, if not join me then you can support me in my weight loss journey.

Take a spoonful of honey each morning in warm water before you take anything.
(Taken at night before sleeping you gain weight)
The only way you can reduce weight is to eat less and work-out more, there are no shortcuts, no medicines, to do that. It is a long process, but it works.
If you want some esoteric method, read Linda Goodman's "Star Signs". She gives good astrological tips, both for weight-gain and weight-loss. They work !

Yes Ive heard swimming is very good for weight loss, but to be honest I dont have time to go out and do exercisere, so whatever exercise I would do would be at home.

Thanks pshrinivasan, Ive never heard of Linda Goodman's "Star Signs" will read about it.

The honey method you have given are you not supposed to add lemon juice in it and have it in luke warm water?

Having lemon juice in luke warn water with some honey on an empty stomach is good. When you do walking, do fast walking which will make your burn more calories. Have a lot of salad and less carbohydrates.

You have got to burn more calories than you consume. It would be good if you did one hour of cardio. Can I ask exactly what kind of cardio you will be doing?

Have lots of water and if possiable try not to have carbs after 7pm.

Well first of all good luck with your journey to weight loss.

Regarding tips well all I can say is be active all the time and avoid junk food and snacking, if snacking is needed then go for fruits and veg. Hope you will keep the thread updated so that we can all see the progress...

Some yoga postures are supposed to be very good for weight loss. I know khapalbhati is very good for weight loss, and I think its suryanamaskar which also helps in weight loss.

Its call a dietician (just realised that in your post you out you dont know what a diet expert is called)

A dietician is a waste of money, I already know about calorie intake, its just a matter of controlling the eating and exeercising and keeping off the bad foods.

A dietician will only explain what all I need to eat, drink and not eat or drink, total waste of money and time.

Have a lot of protein in your diet, and less carbs, but dont totally cut out your carbs. If ever you have cravings for sugar you can have some protein as this gets rid of the sugar cravings.

It is difficult to follow a regular routine at home. There is no company and it may get boring and you will lack motivation. And then, at home, you will not have all the equipment. Hitting the gym the best option - even the society gym is OK. I can recommend the following:

    Day 1:
Warmup Treadmill - 10 minutes of treadmill at 6 kmph followed by 1 min of cooldown (treadmill at 5 kmph). This will roughly consume 60 calories.
Cycle: 10 minutes of cycle at 20+ kmph at load factor 8-10 followed by 1 min of cooldown (cycle at 16 kmph at load 6). This will cover roughly consume 75 calories.
    1 min complete rest.
Climber: 10 minutes at load factor 8. This will consume 65+ calories
Treadmill: 10 minutes of treadmill at 5.5+ kmph at a climb rate of 6-8 meters/minute followed by 1 min of cooldown (treadmill at 5 kmph at zero climb rate). This will roughly consume 80 calories.
    1 min complete rest.
Cycle: 10 minutes of cycle at 20+ kmph at load factor 8-10 followed by 1 min of cooldown (cycle at 16 kmph at load 6). This will cover roughly consume 75 calories.
1 min complete rest standing up.
    3-4 minutes of Shavasan.

    Day 2:
Warmup Treadmill - 10 minutes of treadmill at 6 kmph followed by 1 min of cooldown (treadmill at 5 kmph). This will roughly consume 60 calories.
Cycle: 10 minutes of cycle at 20+ kmph at load factor 8-10 followed by 1 min of cooldown (cycle at 16 kmph at load 6). This will cover roughly consume 75 calories.
    1 min complete rest.
Treadmill: 10 minutes of treadmill at 5.5+ kmph at a climb rate of 6-8 meters/minute followed by 1 min of cooldown (treadmill at 5 kmph at zero climb rate). This will roughly consume 80 calories.
Cycle: 10 minutes of cycle at 20+ kmph at load factor 8-10 followed by 1 min of cooldown (cycle at 16 kmph at load 6). This will cover roughly consume 75 calories.
    1 min complete rest.
    25 situps
    3-4 minutes of Shavasan.

Back to Day 1 and then day 2 alternate.

100% true that when exercising at home there is no routine and no company which does make it boring, but you got to do what you got to....

Thanks for this J4K, much appreciated!!!! If Ive the lost desired weight with this then will send you a gift all the way to Pune.....

Is this routine something which you have tried yourself or seen someone try it..........what were the results and in how many weeks?

I follow the cardio routine on alternate days. On other days, I do some light weights and abs. To be honest, I am lazy and not very regular at the gym.

Thank you for the gift offer.

    Nice routine Just4kix.

I have heard that Shaun T is a very good American instructor and many have lost weight with his exercise routines. Not sure if they can be brought in India or not.

For rapid weight loss, appropriate diet changes must be incorporated. Switching to low-salt, low-oil salads, curd based kachumber, foolkas instead of roti/paratha, lots of lentils and legumes, low-oil/fat (not zero oil/fat), etc. is also recommended. But I am not a dietician and appropriate diet must be accomapnied with appropriate exercise else severe complications can arise. And yes, drink a lot of water - drink a glass full very half an hour.

Do a lot of cardio it doesnt matter what kind and also do some light weights as well. Everyone is right about suggesting drinking a lot of water which is good even if you dont want to lose weight. Avoid rice, potato, white bread and things made from flour.
