    @Preeti_20, First abrupt weight loss is not good at all. I know that this is a desparate situation and desparate situations call for desparate measures.     Your friend needs to do two things and she could loose as much as 20 kg in 3~4 months while becoming fitter and stronger.

    1. Women generally accumulate fat in the abdomen. She should start the following workout:
    Excercises:
    • A slow march on the same spot for 2 mins. This will warm up the body.
    • Go to the stair case. Climb one stair with the left foot and climb down. Repeat with right foot. Do this for 20 times and increase by 5 steps every week till she reaches 50.
    • Lie down on the floor on the side. Lift top leg as high as possible slowly and bring it down slowly (rise and fall should be no more than 6" per second - the slower the better). Repeat for 15 times. Turn on the other side and repeat with other leg.
    • Tread mill for 10 min at 6 lm/hr.
    • Cycle for 10 min at load factor 2 for first 2 mins, load factor 3 for next 3 mins, load factor 2 for next 1 min, load factor 3 for next 3 mins and finally back to 2 for last minute. Cycling speed should be maintained constant at 25 km/hr.
    • Rest for 5 mins.
    • 25 Situps.
    • Some weights especially for legs as advised by instructor.

    Diet:
    1. Avoid all white coloured foods - sugar (even in tea/coffee), starch, sabudana, poha, rice, (rava), excess salt, cheese, paneer, butter, etc.
    2. Skim milk or cow's milk.
    3. Breakfast compulsary before 8:30 AM. A katori of upma or two idli/sambhar or one dosa or one/two egg whites (no yolk) + full bran bread (no butter) or one bowl breakfast cereal with skim milk/no sugar,etc. This should be followed by a fruit plate of (no juice) like mosambi, santra, apple, papaya, melon, etc.
    4. Fruits not allowed: Banana, Chickoo, Mango, etc.
    5. Lunch strictly between 11 to 12. Two phoolkas (no oily chappati/parathas), plain dal, one katori prepared lentils (any like masoor, black chana, green peas, moong matki (sprouted), etc.), a sabzi of green leafy vegetables or legumes, all food cooked in the no more than 1 tbl oil.
    6. One fruit like an apple or pear in the afternoon at 4 pm.
    7. Dinner no later than 7:30. Have 50% salad content. No more than one chapati.
    8. A glass of skim/cow milk (no additives) at night around 10 pm or an apple (compulsary).
    Further diet can be suggested by a dietician.
    This is quite similar to what i had suggested to her, but i she weight lost with this is not enough shes says, she is aiming to loose about 10kg, anything for that.

    By the way its 14 days exactly.........chop chop with the ideas and suggesstions.

    Jay ... i know Sauna :sneaky2:... not only do i use it but also i have seen professional boxers being thru Sauna sessions ..... For matches .. as you very well know in professional boxing especially in the feather weight/light weight categories both boxers should be exactly of the same weight ...Even a 1 kg difference is not allowed ...

    i have seen this also being used for pretty much all contact sports including
    Mu Thai ,Kick Boxing ,Basketball players etc

    She only needs it for a party ,so a quick fix is just fine ... Maybe after the party she can get back to her original shape if she wants.....

    Its not dangerous at all ... if you can kickbox after a Sauna session then whats wrong with 'Shaking a leg' in a party ?

    There is no quick fix for Long time weight loss .... Agreed ...

    Check your BMI ..... your height /weight should be correct ....

    i too am 25yrs and weigh 65 kg ... but because i am not very tall ..the weight is considered correct ... neither am i very thin ....So u better check your Body mass Index ...weight does not depend on your age

    @shadowcon, But that is the point. Sauna does not make you loose FAT. It makes you loose weight in terms of water content. As you know, nearly 60% of body weight is water. So if you loose lot of water, it appears that you have lost a lot of weight which you haven't really because as soon as you drink water, the body replenishes the lost water.

    By loosing water you do not appear thin. Sauna does not burn FAT. Only exercise and diet can control body fat. Exercise, diet and sauna can together burn fat. When sauna is added to the regime, it will accelerate the fat burning.

    Whenever i go thru Sauna sessions (Not to lose weight , just relax a while and detox my body) ... i always have the feeling that my pants are a teeny weeny bit more Loose ...

    Anyways .. i think her ultimate aim is to fit into some dress and she s got less than 2 weeks...

    I have never been inside a Sauna long enough to loose weight .... so i am not sure about that water logic ... i dunno ,would it hurt to give it a try along with other methods ?

    I prefer to swim to keep my body in shape and love to relax inside water (just like a fish)

    I rememeber my Goa day's when i was staying there (in Arambol which is about 35kms from mapsa and about 60kms from panjim), it was in my routine to sleep in sweet water lake near to sea, and i can remember lot many nites when i use to sleep in that lake till mid nite or till 2am- 3am

    I think that's the best thing i can do to make my body feel relaxed

    Trust me it really works to keep your body in shape and may help to loose weight. May be that's the reason i am just 56-57kgs :lol:

    I agree with the sauna idea, as she doesn't necessarily want to lose fat just weight and i think its a great idea for her to fit into her dress she wants to, will defiantly pass this idea to her, but do keep coming up with more ideas.

    1 of my friend joined VLCC before her wedding... I don't remember exact duration... but it was quick... She was lookin slim n more beautiful in few weeks... Maybe ur friend can go there 2 chk out if they have a 2 weeks course...

    thats a good idea, but i did forget to mention shes a bit on the stingy side, so wont spend money on something like that and plus she hardly gets anytime to go anywhere, even i have hard they are very good.

    GM diet is good if she is a nonveggie This is an excellent way to loose weight and I have tried it myself once.

    If you know some one from the Indian Airforce flying branch ask them ... I can gurantee you that they all know abou tit because they have medical tests every now and then and they have very strict weight restrictions.

    All IAF pilots who add a few extra kilos go for GM diet just before their medical examination which they go through I think every 6 months or so..

    Google it and if she is a vegeterian I can fine you alternatives to red meat.

    The best thing is that she wont have to stay hungry eat as much as you like and stil end up a few kilos lighter every week with this reigm..

    The only thing to take care of is that do not do GM diet twice back to back ... need to leave a few days gap before you start it again.

    Here: I have made it a little easier for you ... this is what needs to be followed.

    Its called General motors diet and is world famous.

    The following diet and health program was developed for employees and dependents of General Motors, Inc. and is intended for their exclusive use. This program was developed in conjunction with a grant from U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration. It was field tested at the Johns Hopkins Research Centre and was approved for distribution by the Board of Directors, General Motors Corp. at a general meeting on August 15, 1985. General Motors Corp. wholly endorses this program and is making it available to all employees and families. This program will be available at all General Motors Food Service Facilities. It is management's intention to facilitate a wellness and fitness program for everyone.
    This program is designed for a target weight loss of 10-17 lbs per week. It will also improve your attitudes and emotions because of its cleansing systematic effects.
    The effectiveness of this seven day plan is that the food eaten burn more calories than they give to the body in caloric value.
    This plan can be used as often as you like without any fear of complications. It is designed to flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well being. After seven days you will begin to feel lighter because you will be lighter by at least 10 lbs. You will have an abundance of energy and an improved disposition.
    During the first seven days you must abstain from all alcohol
    You must drink 10 glasses of water each day

    Day One All fruits except bananas. Your first day will consist of all the fruits you want. It is strongly suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day. Especially watermelon and a loupe. If you limit your fruit consumption to melons, your chances of losing three lbs. on first day are very good.

    G.M.'S Wonder Soup
    The following soup is intended as a supplement to your diet. It can be eaten any time of the day in virtually unlimited quantities. You are encouraged to consume large quantities of this soup.
    28 oz, Water, 6 Large Onions, 2 Green Peppers, Whole Tomatoes (fresh or canned), 1 Head Cabbage, 1 Bunch Celery, 4 Envelopes Lipton Onion Soup Mix, Herbs and Flavouring as desired.
    Additional Comments
    Vegetables as may be taken in the form of a salad if desired. No dressing except malt, white or wine vinegar, squeezed lemon, garlic, herbs. No more than one tea spoon of oil.
    You have been given a recipe for the WONDER SOUP which can be eaten in unlimited quantities. This soup is a supplement while you are on the program and it should be a pleasure to eat. Not everyone likes cabbage, green peppers, calory etc. This recipe is not inflexible. You may substitute vegetables according to your taste. You may add any vegetables you like: asparagus, peas, corn, turnips, green beans, cauliflower, etc. Try to stay away from beans (lima, pinto, kidney, etc.), however, because they tend to be high in calories even though they are very good for you.
    Beverages you may consume while on the program :

    1. Water (flavoured with lemon/lime if desired).
    2. Club Soda is OK.
    3. Black Coffee. No cream or cream substitute. No sugar or sweetness.
    4. Black Tea = Herb or Leaf.
    5. Absolutely nothing else except the fruit juices which are part of day seven. No fruit juices before day seven.
    How and Why It Works
    Day One you are preparing your system for the upcoming programme. Your only source of nutrition is fresh or canned fruits. Fruits are nature's perfect food. They provide everything you could possibly want to sustain life except total balance and variety.
    Day Two starts with a fix of complex carbo-hydrates coupled with an oil dose. This is taken in the morning for energy and balance. The rest of day two consists of vegetables which are virtually calorie free and provide essential nutrients and fibre.
    Day Three eliminates the potato because you get your carbohydrates from the fruits. You system is now prepared to start burning excess pounds. You will still have cravings which should start to diminish by day four.

    Day Five, Beef and tomatoes. The beef is for iron and proteins, the tomatoes are for digestion and fibre. Lots and lots of water purifies your system. You should notice colourless urine today. Your allowance calls for the equivalent of five "quarter ponders". Do not feel you have to eat all this beef. You must eat the six tomatoes.
    Day Six is similar to day five, Iron and proteins from beef, Vitamins and fibre from vegetables. By now your system is in a total weight loss inclination. There should be a noticeable difference in the way you look today, compared to day one.
    Day Seven finished off the program like a good cigar used to finish off Victorian meals, except much healthier. You have your system under control and it should thank you for the flushing and cleaning you just gave it.

    As far as the beef goes, it is what we call a Class 1 protein, to give you all the essential amino acids. Class 1 protein, can be obtained from mostly non-vegetarian products. If she is a vegetarian, go with milk or a milk product like curd, cheese, paneer, etc., on that day. Do not substitute that for sprouts or dals.

    You're is 65kg means more or less our height and built is same

    Manish,

    If u want to gain weight easy way... Stop eating at home... Eat a lot in restaurants, hotels, parties... Always try to order for rich food... Never leave a drop of the thick gravy in the bowl/plate of the veg/non-veg meal u just finished... Prefer Punjabi dishes most of the times....

    If u drink... Eat loads of snacks with it... fried cashew, fried veg nonveg starters...etc.. anything u see on the table just grab it...

    ofcourse better way is to exercise and eat!

    I personally lost 5 kgs in only 2 weeks! How cool is that?! All I did was exercise and a reduced diet. Then I felt sexier than ever.

    There are many stuffs available in the market for reducing fat content in the body.And before using any of those stuffs it is better to consult a physician before moving on.

    just because u wanna gain weight dont start eating a lot of unhealthy food... some people here dunno what they r talking about .... eating too much fat will only give you a heart attack ... too much cholesterol will kill u .... simply try to increase your food intake ......Normal food is just fine


    I am experimenting with some methods if successful will put it down here

    the poor guy will die and probably suffer health problems with all that fried oily and heavy food!

    yeh there is a lot of things available in the market, but its not a good idea to take those things as it can be harmful to the body and end of the day most of it doesn't work!

    Ok my friend has started her dieting and exercising but isn't too well at the moment.

    She has kind of started the juice diet, but cant resist having food so has one meal a day.

    But she is now going on the juice dieting properly from tomorrow.
    What she wanted to know what is with her being on a juice diet for 15 days and doing an hour and a half of exercise a day or 2 hours exercise how much can she lose in the 15 days (party date been moved forward). She is with me now, so reply back quick so she can read the replies.

    A juice diet will certainly make her loose some weight... but I don't think it will be too much... cuz she'll be getting all the sweet glucose n all... And I don't know if its effective in cleaning out the system too... but if she has consulted some expert... then it can be fine..

    Preeti, I remember my bhaabhi did the Veg version of GM diet which Admin recommended... And she lost 4 KGs in a week... Couple of my girlfriends also did it... n they were lighter by 4 & 5 kgs respectively... And yes it cleans the system properly... My cousin sis has started it today as well... Her boyfriend's parent are gonna see her in couple of weeks...

    Shes already done the GM Diet didn't work out good for her. The juice diet hasn't been recommended by an expert its something i found on the net for her.
    It not only helps you to lose weight but also is a very good way to detox. Shes taken into consideration that that juices are sweet, which is why she will only drink 3 small glasses a day along with 6 glasses of water. Shes also going to be doing one hour of walking and half or an hour of aerobics.

    Her aim in 14 days is to lose at least 11kg or 12 kg.

    Good luck to your cousin sis!

    Mu friend will join the forum tonight, so she can post all the things herself, but the only problem will be that we will be sharing a computer so when shes online i wont be, but i don't think she will be online for long! Anyway hope you guys will help her out.

    12 Kgs in two weeks... Thats really a tough ask... Good luck to your friend too... Then I'm sure u must have got something special for her... Better than GM... Would u mind sharing the elaborate diet regime here, our diet expert? I'm very curious...

    U r not doing a nice thing by letting her join this forum... :nono:
