that can be a possibility, as when he had started yoga he was a beginner, as one has to start form scratch and something must have gone wrong. But on the other hand i dont think his eye is actually a disease, it may be something from birth which is only possible with operation!

Dezire i still don't understand some of the words used in yoga, so still practicing on that part!

beleive me... as you might have read somewhere.. you can really concentrate Yoga / Pranayam on a specific part of Body. Right from Head, Brain to foot / thumb... this heals specific pains / disease. consult some expert for your ankle.

well....... preeti... i have a vedio cd of swami ramdev.. and i believe reading is not much interesting n effective as such as viewing and doing it.. u will exactly come to know different postures with perfect timings n also explanations ... i prefer tht rather than reading.. well after all its everyones choice...

regarding some words not understanding.. i think u can thrwo it ere in this post.. mostly i will tell u meaning. (pl write full sentence including the word which u wanna know the meaning).. i will tell u as much i know.. mostly..

regarding other stuff... frankly speaking.. i think 1st u should start by walking for one or two hours DAILY... then go for fast walking after 15 days once your body accomodates it... and then gradually run/// step by step.. at a streach u cant run for some 15 -20 mins.. unless u r athletic or before u participated in such things like running, hurdles n if u r not everweight...

recently i am doing it full feather.. i started with brisk walking.. for now i think its alost one and half month.. now i m running n in between speedily walking..now i feel so light n relaxed.. completely getting fit..

may be next month i will start doing yoga practice.. if this will go regular..lol

Well that it true to some extent about watching it, which i thought was good before i got the book, as the book provides information regarding the breathing procedures with each yoga posture, so therefore don't have any problem with it! And plus the procedures are not long and lengthy, they are short and to the point which are provided in a bullet format which makes it easy to understand and follow!

Since childhood running has never been my favorite activity, which is why i just dont go for running, but cycling i can do for hours!

u r right pro but before starting on nething as serious as this a background of origin and details of Words / Phrases etc is very necessary. vdos do not give the same. In fact there are really very less people, across world, who really know Yoga from its roots !!

Did you all see David Copperfield flying ???

Yeh thats true, understanding the words and phases is really important, as it gives a whole better understanding on the theme or topic and allows you to proceed with the activity, in this case yoga properly!

Thats true that people know very less people about yoga and yoga from its roots! I think unless you are someone who has practiced and learnt it for quite a long time!

The only sad part about Yoga is that results are too slow.I have been trying to develop a schedule for the last one year or so.I do it for a month, then a break of two months and so on.

If you see the results fast, it helps you to motivate and continue your efforts.I believe I am too lazy...

But on a serious note.Yoga do help in overall health of the person.I personally know people who have gained a lot just by watching on TV and practising.

Yoga is quick... you see the results immediately, but yes.... you have to have a schedule...

I was told by someone that Ramdev actually had far greater health problems than his eye which were corrected to a great extent due to his yoga (why yoga could not take care of his eye too is something to ponder)

On a slightly different note, yoga is not just about asanas and pranayam, they are just 2 out of 8 rungs of ashtaang yoga...

Preeti, try reading the ancient treatise patanjali yoga - the best book on it so far I have found is PaatanjalYogPradeep. Many crude translations are available on the internet. One not so commercial site appears to be swamij.com...

Jogging is no so good (unless you do it in moderation and have proper protection against thump-thump impact on your knee joint) because it is high impact exercise, walking is good, so are swimming and cycling.
