Godsend is a horror/drama movie released in the year, 2004. The film was directed by Nick Hamm.
Godsend is about Jessie and Paul Duncan who are a married couple. Both of them are very happy with their marriage and have an eight-year-old son Adam. However, the next day after Adam's eighth birthday, he is killed in a roadside accident.
When they are leaving a church after Adam’s death, they are confronted by Dr. Richard Wells who is an old teacher of Jessie's. Dr. Wells offers them with an opportunity to clone Adam. Jessie and Paul Duncan reluctantly agree to it.
Everything is fine with the new Adam, till the time he reaches his 8th birthday. The night of his 8th birthday he experiences a violent nightmare. Dr. Wells tells Paul that it is not at all serious and that after Adam II (Adam’s clone) will reach the age when the original Adam died, his life would become unpredictable. From that moment onwards, Adam II continues to have some really bad nightmares until the time they start to become visions. Soon Adam II starts to have the nightmares even if they are wide awake.
Lions Gate Films set up a website as the prominent part of the movie’s promotional campaign. The website was in the name of the fictional Godsend Institute that was introduced in the movie. The website claimed that it had a technology that can actually resurrect the dead. However the campaign could not be as successful as thought this is because Lions Gate had to change the website to inform the people that it was only an advertisement. This was because the website generated a large number of inquiries and they asked if they can actually resurrect the dead family members.
The movie is a wonderful watch and is a must see.
